negative effects. Anything in moderation is not a
problem. Parents and children need to be able to
decide how much gaming is permissible and what
kind of gaming. Parents must teach their children
what is good and what is bad. Gaming is like any other

ABSTRACT—Video games are at the center of a debate over what is helpful or harmful to children and adolescents, and there is research to substantiate both sides. The existing research suggests that there are at least 5 dimensions on which video games can affect players: the amount of play, the content of play, the game context, thestructure of the game, and the mechanics of game play. This article describes each of these 5 dimensions with support from the scientific literature, arguing that this approach can allow people to get beyond the typical ‘‘good–bad’’ dichotomous thinking to have a more nuanced understanding of video game effects and to provide testable hypotheses for future research.
The disadvantages, however, tend to overshadow these
advantages
Also, he may spend less time in other activities such as doing homework, reading, sports, and interacting with the family and friends.
Children who play more violent video games are more likely to have increased aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and decreased prosocial helping
Video games may also have bad effects on some children’s health, including obesity, video-induced seizures. and postural, muscular and skeletal disorders, such as tendonitis, nerve compression, carpal tunnel syndrome.
video games are addictive. All you care about is forging ahead to the next level. You sit and play for many hours and forget about everything else. All you care about is overcoming your obstacles in order to get to the next level. So, the moment you come home, you switch on your game and sit and play because you really cannot think of anything else
Moderation is key, and a child who is able to control himself and properly manage his time and balance responsibility & necessity with leisure, will learn to uphold the necessary etiquette for living a balanced life.
