This assignment consists of 2 parts: questions about budget
estimation and developing a budget.
Part 1 Questions (10 points)
Provide responses to the following questions
1. You are providing a review of contractor bids for a
component of your upcoming project. What can be done to
determine whether or not a vendor’s bid is reasonable?
2. Describe the conditions for which parametric, analogous
and bottom up estimation techniques work best, and provide 2
examples in support of each method.
3. Why is a cost management plan important? How does the
plan benefit the project manager?
Part 2 Budget Estimating (30 points)
Using the same scenario from the previous unit on scheduling,
create a time-phased budget for the following project. Prepare a
figure like Exhibit 10.9, CPT 4e, that illustrates the daily and
cumulative costs for the resource-leveled project.

Part 3 Budget Estimating (50 points)
You are the project manager for a process improvement project
for Company XYZ. Prepare a figure like Exhibit 10.9 that
illustrates the weekly and cumulative costs for the resource-
leveled project.
Hint: To accomplish this exercise, you’ll need to create a
project schedule in MS Excel (or by hand), create resource
assignments, assign costs to each resource, and assign the
resources to each task. Some resource leveling will be
required.
In this project, you have 3 employees: Ann, Becky and Clive.
Each person is limited to the amount of time allocated to your
project. Ann and Becky are available 30 hours/week; Clive is
available 20 hours/week. There hourly rates are: Ann:
$60/hour; Becky: $35/hour; and Clive: $50/hour.

Mechanics (10 points)
Part 1 responses should be presented in a question-response
format. Use Arial font with 11 point. There is no word limit.
Your Instructor will use Turn-it-in to ensure your paper is
authentic work. To avoid plagiarism, see the course home page

learn how to paraphrase, summarize and cite the references you
use in all academic writing assignments.
Parts 2 and 3 Use MS Excel (MS Project is not acceptable) to
create the budget estimate and present it similar to Exhibit
10.9. Show intermediate steps (schedule, resource schedule
assignments, resource-leveled schedule and any other elements
needed to create the time-phased budget estimate.
It is expected that each part of this assignment have excellent
mechanics (presentation, grammar and spelling) and exhibit the
quality of work capable of a group of graduate students and
working professionals. All sections of the document submitted
must be readable at 100% magnification.

Discussion Board Instructions
In Modules/Weeks 1 and 8, you are required to participate in
Discussion Board Forums that are designed to facilitate a
community learning experience through threads and replies
mimicking face-to-face discussion. Please follow the specific

THREAD:
For each forum, post a thread in response to the topic prompt
provided. Your thread must contain a minimum of 250 words
and a maximum of 300 words and demonstrate course-related
knowledge. This promotes writing that is thorough yet concise
enough to permit your peers to read all of the threads. Each
thread must adhere to current APA writing guidelines and any
references included in the thread must be formatted in current
APA style. Since this is a personal discussion, you are allowed
to use first-person perspective; however, you must maintain
professional decorum in all your threads and replies.
REPLIES:
After reading all of your classmates’ threads, you must post
replies to a minimum of 3 of your classmates’ threads. Each
reply must be at least 125–150 words in length.All replies must
adhere to current APA writing guidelines.
Be sure to click reply within the thread in which you intend to
respond. Also, please note that “I like what you said,” “That’s a
good comment,” and “I disagree with your comment” do not
count as a complete reply in and of themselves. However,
stating why you liked or disliked the comment, adding
additional thoughts or ideas to the original comment, and/or
providing alternative ideas or thoughts when you disagree,

Biblical Perspective
The organizational challenge was based on the conflicting roles
between employees and various departments. From a biblical
viewpoint, people can have equal roles, but when conflict
arises, the primary process to be involved in conflict resolution.
For instance, Proverbs 15:1 says that “A gentle answer turns
away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” The verse applies
to finding solutions to the organizational problem by looking at
the challenge from various perspectives.
A gentle answer is based on the positive feedbacks that are
given during conflict resolution. When employees are involved
in a conflict, instead of negatively reacting to the situation, the
management should e optimistic about the situation and offer
positive comments. For instance, when an employee feels
offended by a senior executive, the human resource department
should focus on establishing the cause of the matter (Winston,
2018). Also, they should condemn the behavior and not the
person that has wronged the other. Condemning a person is like
using harsh words in a conflict resolution process. The outcome
could be poor work relations in the organization since one party
will lack trust in the organizational policies.
Also, the bible encourages people to rely on better judgment
when interacting with others, as well as having higher empathy
practices. Biblically, one should judge others the way they
would prefer to be judged. Therefore, in the organization
setting, the members must have better decision-making skills
that would ensure unity among them (Winston, 2018). When
conflicts arise, compassion should play a critical role by
looking at the matter from each other’s perspective instead of
blame games. With biblical practices, the organizational
conflict resolution process is enhanced.

From a biblical viewpoint, people can have equal roles, but when conflict arises, the primary process to be involved in conflict resolution. For instance, Proverbs 15:1 says that “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” The verse applies to finding solutions to the organizational problem by looking at the challenge from various perspectives. A gentle answer is based on the positive feedbacks that are given during conflict resolution. When employees are involved in a conflict, instead of negatively reacting to the situation, the management should e optimistic about the situation and offer positive comments. For instance, when an employee feels offended by a senior executive, the human resource department should focus on establishing the cause of the matter (Winston, 2018). Also, they should condemn the behavior and not the person that has wronged the other. Condemning a person is like using harsh words in a conflict resolution process. The outcome could be poor work relations in the organization since one party will lack trust in the organizational policies.
