2. Project:
• Elijah Dillard Elite Warriors
Focus:
• Raise Awareness about child abuse and provide children
with a safe place to play and participate in recreational
activities.

3. What is Elijah Dillard Elite Warriors?
 The Elijah Dillard Elite Warriors were founded by Ta-Tanesha Jiles to raise
awareness about child abuse and cater to children after her nephew was tragically
killed as a result of child abuse.
 After this Ta-Tanesha was devoted to ensuring that child abuse was well known
about and that children had a safe environment to enjoy activities such as dance,
basketball, or just have an place where the could meet up and have a place to
hang out with friends after school.

4. Supervising
Activities
 I would come to the center during the hours
children were there and help supervise
activities to ensure things were safe and
that there was adult supervision .

5. Providing Advise to Youth
 Many times, the children that come to this program come from single parent
household were the parent is usually working a lot.
 They usually ask advice about things the might experience in life such as conflict
resolution, college, or jus anything that one would ask an adult they looked up to
about the future.
 At times the often just wanted someone to vent to about things happening at
school or at home and we were there to listen.

6. Escorting out
to cars.
 When the children left for the day, we would
walk them out to cars and often talk with the
parents to ensure that the got home safe and
that they left with who the were supposed to
be leaving with.

7. What I Learned
 Working here allowed me to remember what adolescent struggle was like. When
giving advice to kids it made me remember times where I may have been going
through similar issues and share my stories with them
 I learned that children are the first step to the future and by helping them reach
there goals, no matter how small, we help to ensure the future is a bright one

8. Social Science POV
 When working with these kids a big part of the social sciences that I noticed had
an impact on what they were dealing with was economy and geography.
 A lot of these kids came from low income families and from a neighborhood that
reflected such
 It made me realize the impact that your location and finance could have on how
you react to things in a social aspect of life
