At birth his twin brother Marco and himself

them both blind. Raul’s mother passed away
when he was only four years old. His father
and grandmother raised the two and were
taught to have a positive attitude towards life.
4. Raul Midon’s father told People magazine
towards his two boys:
“I realized that a positive attitude was the most
important asset they could acquire. They
embraced that.”
6. Early Life Continued…
As a young child Raul Midon took interest in
music. His Argentinean father was a
professional folkloric dancer. Raul played the
drums before he decided to play the guitar.
7. After College
After attending the University of Miami, Raul went on to be
a background singer for several artists like Jose Feliciano,
Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Jennifer
Lopez, Julio Iglesias, and Shakira. While living in Miami,
Florida he met his wife Kathleen and got married in 1999.
He also recorded his own song in Spanish called “Gracias
a la Vida”.
8. After College continued…
March 2002, Raul and his wife moved to New York
City so he can pursue his solo career. His
management arranged a meeting with Grammy
Award-winning producer Arif Mardin and was signed
to Manhattan Records.
11. Raul’s album State of Mind was released

16. Raul Midon wrote this for his website:
“The way I play today is an amalgam of those
styles, mixed with my fascination with the
great rock and blues guitarists like Eric
Clapton and B.B. King. I’m constantly trying
to integrate everything I know musically into
the guitar. I’m trying to make it sound like an
orchestra.”

18. Raul told Rashod D. Ollison in an
interview for Baltimore Sun:
“Me being blind, I was told I couldn’t do this, I couldn’t do
that. In my life, I find a way to do what I want to do.
Having a lot of people around that support that, the
positive, there’s nothing you can’t do”.
19. Raul Midon summarized his mission in
life stating this on his website…
“Part of our mission, as artists, besides
entertaining, is to say something positive,
without preaching, to our audience, whether it
numbers in the hundreds or millions”.

23. Not only does Raul write music for his own career
but he also writes songs for some movies as well.
He did a song for Spike Lee’s 2004 film, She Hates
Me, end credits. Raul’s song entitled “Everybody”
was included in the movie “The Peaceful Warrior”
soundtrack. He was also featured in the 2009 film
Still Bill.
24. The way he plays his guitar is very
unique. He uses an unorthodox
variation of upward strums and fret
tapping. Raul calls it “slap attack”. He
also uses his mouth to make a trumpet
like sound to go along with his music.
25. Raul Midon is a very
inspirational artist
because when
people told him that
he couldn’t achieve
his dreams, he
fought through the
struggles and proved
everyone who
doubted him wrong.
