1. The first of our nine frames is this. The image below shows Fergal walking on his
own around a duck pond. Firstly this works with the music because of the what a
duck pond can connote such as loneliness and solidarity. Also this scene is timed
exceptionally well to the beat of the music, Fergal takes his steps to the beat of the
song making it easier for the watcher as both sound and vision are synchronised.
2. This frame grab sows
again Fergal on his own.
The lyrics at this
particular point in the
music video suit this shot
very well, they say
‘cumon talk’, and whilst
Fergal is standing alone it
looks to the audience that
he is talking to himself.
Another positive about
this shot is the way it is lit.
there is light coming from
both the front and back of
Fergal making him the
natural centre of attention.
3. This is the first screen grab where both the male and female characters
feature in it. The music in the background of this scene is a more up beat
part of the song and the boy and girl (Molly and Fergal)are getting
on, portraying a romantic moment. This particular shot has alt in common
with other love aimed music videos, so as a group we decided this format
would work well for this segment of the music video.
4. The zebra crossing scene was taken from the original
Beatles record and we tried to incorporate that into our
location choice and film ideas. The music in the
background is the repetition o the phrase ‘cumon and
talk’, matching their movements on screen which was
made to flick back and forth assisted by editing,
5. This screen grab is a
metaphor for home life.
Although we have used
green screening to achieve
our desired affect we were
trying to connote how
problems can be caused in
relationships. From the
picture the locations of the
two partners are completely
opposite, the women being
in the kitchen and the man
at the pub. The effects in this
frame help the audience to
understand why the couple
Is arguing and also to relate
the images to the music
being played.
6. The 6th frame is a slightly different
screen shot. This image features a lot
more effects and more effects which
we tried to incorporate into the
song. By using multiple squares of
video on one screen it gives the
viewer a different dimension, it also
syncs very well with the song and is
enjoyable to watch. The green
screen was used in this scene and
allowed us to achieve this mosaic
look.
7. Molly and Fergal have
been merged together
in this screen shot. The
camera work and
editing technique is
very effective in
producing the desired
effect we wanted. The
song is about how two
lovers are breaking up
and this screen grab
connotes how they
were close, but not
any more. It is also in
black and white which
can represent how
there feelings for each
other are old and
outdated.
8. Joe features in this shot. The aim of this image
and piece of video was to show how there are
other people involved in the actual music side
of the video. Joe is playing guitar in time with
the music , this also makes the audience focus
more on the story that molly and Fergal are
telling. Also Joe is playing the guitar on a
dark background, by doing this it shows that
he is not involved in the story as there is n o
location.
9. The final frame sums up the narrative for
our music video. The location the a train
station which firstly could show that maybe
one of the partners is leaving and the
relationship is ending. The most obvious
point to be made in this image is how the
characters are separated by the obstacle of a
railway. The over the shoulder shot also
helps to see the whole seen and how molly
is possibly regretting the decision to leave
Fergal.
