Outrigger Canoe Club
Welcome!
O ke aloha ke kuleana o kahi malihini
(Love is the host in strange lands.)
In old Hawai’i, every passerby was greeted and offered food
whether he was an acquaintance or a total stranger.
In our hectic, impersonal world there still exists an oasis of aloha –
The Outrigger Canoe Club.
The Outrigger Canoe Club is located on the Pacific Ocean below the slopes of Diamond
Head, near Waikiki Beach. The Club has provided a haven for the sports of old Hawai'i
and today nurtures modern athletic ventures as well.
The Club's location and architectural design provide the perfect venue for casual or
elegant dining, fellowship and aloha.
“A building that is not a building as such, but rather a series of congenial spaces flowing
indoors and outdoors and moving up and down with varying floor levels and ceiling
heights. As it moves toward the ocean it becomes part of the beach itself- still pleasantly
resisting confinement.”
The Architecture of Honolulu
The Outrigger Canoe Club is located on a white sand beach that offers facilities for members
interested in active or passive outdoor activities.
Beach
Outrigger's sandy beach provides a beautiful spot for sunning and relaxing. Beach attendants
can provide umbrellas and backrests as available. Surfboards are available at a nominal
rental fee and are to be used in the immediate area only.
A limited number of Club paddleboards are available for serious training and competition.
Swimming
Expert swimmers may swim out through the Kapua Channel to the Club Windsock, located one
quarter mile off shore.

sand courts is limited to times when Club teams are not practicing or tournaments are taking
place.

Chef's Fresh Catch of the Day and other pasta and vegetarian specials.

The Hau Terrace is the perfect casual dining location.
Tables on the water and a sweeping, unrivaled view
of Waikiki make this the ideal spot for any meal.

Casino to its 1937 sheen

that he called his "Gem of the Pacific." The club is a rare, surviving example of Mr. Dailey's
signature International style, also described as moderne.

degree views could be added to the roof. Plans include such intricate details as recreations of
original tasseled umbrellas, poolside lounge chairs, and redwood deck throughout The building
would return to its original color scheme, two tones of color and white.
The Coral Casino serves guests at the adjacent Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel - also owned by
Mr. Warner -but caters mainly to its private members who pay a minimum of $200 in

La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club
Recreation
Tennis: Since 1935, a virtual who's who of tennis stars have served and volleyed their way to
greatness on its courts since F.W. Kellogg first strung nets and invited guests to play on four newly
constructed courts.
The Club's reputation as a tennis-place-to-go was not long in coming. By 1942, the Club had attracted
its first major tournament -- the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships -- and, by the 1950s,
had become a prominent stop on the tournament circuit, playing host to numerous USLTA
National Hard Court Tennis Championships. Today, the Club hosts five national USTA
tournaments annually.
Golf: Golfers can test their short game ability on the nine-hole, par-3, Spindrift Golf Course. The
course drapes around the Club’s pond, as well as defining the north and east perimeters of La
Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. A practice putting green, chipping area, and driving net accompany the
golf course to further allow you to sharpen your golf skills. Spindrift is well suited to challenge a
veteran golfer or to entertain the novice family. No matter your ability, there is a great time to be
had on the golf course.

Mandalay Bay's 11-acre tropical Sand-and-Surf Beach will have you believing that you're in the
Caribbean.

River ride, and a full sand beach fronting a huge Wave Pool.

Today, the Club hosts five national USTA tournaments annually. Golf: Golfers can test their short game ability on the nine-hole, par-3, Spindrift Golf Course.
