BIOGRAPHY
Jackie is the founder of IHO People. ‘In hope of people’ is a purpose driven enterprise, inspiring people and organisations to transform through
social change. Jackie is a leading social change activist with 35 years’ experience as a strategic, operational and national leader in the National
Health Service (NHS) and public services in England. Jackie works from a belief that companies must harness the energy and creativity of the
human capital within their organisation. She believes in creating change by tapping into peoples’ innate wisdom, to what’s important to them to
inspire hope, purpose and collective action to make a practical difference.
As a change facilitator, international speaker and coach Jackie combines this to help people and systems to make their own change from the
inside out, through the power of connection and story telling rather than through hierarchy. From this space people can expand their mind-set to
think differently about the ‘rules of change’ and make sense of it in their own context, so they can take action with new insights.
As a former Head of Transformation in the NHS, Jackie was asked to work with the most challenged system in the NHS (Mid Staffordshire
Hospital) to lead the commissioner quality improvement process. Spending a year bringing together observational and interventional findings,
amongst many high level findings, a key observation was grassroots staff not feeling they have the ‘permission’ to make change, even though
they are the ones who know and see what needs to be done everyday.
As a result, Jackie worked with grassroots staff, who came up with the audacious idea idea of mobilising the 1.7m people in the NHS with the
purpose of improving patient care. Jackie is one of the many pioneers, and key organiser and improvement architect behind ‘NHS Change Day’,
a grassroots social movement making over 800,000 pledges to improve patient care, spreading to ten other provinces across the world. It has
been described as a ‘game changer’ and possibly the largest social movement across the NHS. It showed that self-organising networks in a
hierarchy is possible and power shared is power multiplied, which strongly defines her values for action.
Using the approaches to change of people such as Marshall Ganz, Gary Hamel, John Kotter and many more, Jackie focus on social change and
applying these principles with people and organisations.
Jackie invites you to inspire what no one else is thinking and use the untapped energy and resources of new power to enable people to be their
own drivers of change, helping people to be their authentic selves and organisations to re-image and discover meaningful work. Starting her
career as a nurse Jackie has made this the next part of her journey into freelance.
Jackie is an inspirational speaker and has presented across the UK, internationally, including many mixed business audiences.Using her personal
story of leadership challenges and complex adaptive systems and social movements, Jackie seeks ways to facilitate connections and
conversations to uncover organisational complexity and open up what is waiting to be born.
Jackie lives in Birmingham, UK and has 3 grown up creative girls and is married to Joseph.
