1. INCOME GENERATING PROJECTS AT
IKONDO SECONDARY SCHOOL
Introduction.
Ikondo School is more grateful for various supports from TDT. TDT has been
supporting the school in many ways. Apart from great effort invested by TDT in
improving the school infrastructure like finishing of the two classless which are
currently used as hostel accommodating 68 girls, Tanzania Development Trust
has also funded for the construction of girls toilets, water harvesting tanks,
rehabilitation of teachers house, and teaching facilities.
2. I B Chicken Project (Farming of
indigenous chickens)
• Chicken project started in 2018 with 8 chickens. But has kept
growing following the funding support received from “Teach A Man
how to fish” (An Enterprise Challenge). The key goal for the
establishment of chicken project was help both boys and girls
coming from poor families and orphans, get uniforms, exercise
book, help them pay monthly science contribution. The chicken
project flourished in 2019 following receiving $400 from Teach A
man to fish, following the winning of the best proposal category.
The fund used to build modern chicken tent and buy more chickens.
And the continues support from TDT for buying more chickens,
including the project of growing maggots and azola. Maggots and
Azola, provide important nutrients for chickens which also help
chickens lay more eggs. The school has been generating profit from
the project by selling eggs, chicks, and chickens

• Moreover, the schools also running a school shops. The
shop was established following the application send by
the head of school to TDT with an intention of;
• Providing a price relief for the parents and students
who had to get uniforms and other school
requirements at Muleba town, which was too costful.
• Enabling identified students with needs to get uniform
in a lower prices
• Generated profit is used to pay one science teacher

• Supporting 5 hostel girls (orphans) buy food.
4. School Link (Partnership with
Clayesmore)
• The school would also wish to appreciate TDT for connecting the
school with Clayesmore school- in UK. The partnership started in
2021. The key objectives of the school partnership are focused on;
• Sharing teaching resources
• Sharing teaching and learning mechanism per subject
• Looking forward for having a collaborative teaching
• Engaging the students from both school to share their goals and
talents, as so far we have already carried out some challenges
conducted via online
• Planning visits, for both schools. In June 2022 two female teachers
from Clayesmore and David from TDT visited the school.
• Currently we are looking forward to sending either a group of
students and teachers from Ikondo to UK or receiving a group from
Clayesmore (still in discussion).

tireless initiatives that TDT has been taking to
create Ikondo a better place for learning
