Exhibition) Rules 2004 and the Animals and Birds (Dog
Licensing and Control) Rules
The Centre for Animal Welfare and Control (CAWC)
of the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority was
established in 1995 as a one-stop location for matters
pertaining to animal welfare and control

16. • The animal welfare standard in transport by land has improved
tremendously over the years. Chickens are transported in plastic
cages. No more bamboo cages for chickens or pig stacked in
rattan cages
• But loading facilities for cattle in some areas are sub‐standard
and managed with a lot of improvisations by handlers.
• More trainings and awareness campaigns are needed for
animal handlers. But the drawback is that most of them work
part time or are immigrant workers not permanently employed
thus make training more difficult.

• Johor Baru :
Sarana sangat memadai, dan disediakan khusus untuk
pembongkaran ternak
• KLIA :
Sarana sangat baik dan disediakan khusus untuk pengelolaan
pembongkaan dan distribusi ternak

20. Feedlot Operation :
• Sarana dan prasarana : beberapa memerlukan
peningkatan, dan sedikit feedlot yang sangat baik
• Pengelolaan administrasi di aktifitas ini, memerlukan
perbaikan, terkait masalah kepastian traceability
• Pelatihan dan peningkatan awareness terhadap AW,
masih memerlukan peningkatan

21. Abattoir Operation:
• Sarana dan Prasarana, pada awal pelaksaan ESCAS Audit,
kondisnya buruk dan memerlukan perbaikan. Saat ini, sdh jauh
lebih baik dan memadai.
• Training yg intensif, telah mulai menghasilkan pengelolaan di
Pelatihan dan peningkatan awareness terhadap AW, masih
memerlukan peningkatan.

• Peningkatan kesadaran thd AW menjadi hal yg krusial, mulai
dari proses pembongkaran hingga pada saat memasuki area
abattoir
• Secara umum, sejak pemberlakuan ESCAS 1 Sep 2012,
perbaikan terus terlihat, termasuk adanya pemahaman yg
semakin baik thd pentingnya AW disepanjang supply chain.
