The Venus of Willindorf is an 11cm high statuette of a female figure discovered in 1908 by archaeologist Josef Szombathy. Estimated to have been made between 22,000-21,000 BCE, very little is known about its origin, creation, or cultural significance. The statue, now housed in Vienna's museum, is made of limestone and depicts a large, fat female figure believed by scholars to represent fertility.
