3.  In 2006, over 34 percent of summer camps in the
United States partnered directly with schools
during the school year. The nation's camps have
long served as environmental learning centers at
the elementary school level and as locations for
leadership retreats by student councils. High
schools around the country continue to
incorporate unique elective courses into their
curriculum, and summer camps have adjusted
their program offerings to resemble those of the
local school curriculum.

increase the number of formal relationships
with schools, such as reaching out to third
parties like Take Stock in Children and
Breakthrough Collaborative. Through these
programs, students are able to participate in
leadership seminars and tour college
campuses.
