New compact infrared temperature sensor with
integrated display
Essen, November 2012 – Temperatures up to 1350 °C can be easily
measured with the new infrared temperature sensor from ifm
electronic. It is also the first unit to be equipped with an integrated
display and operating unit. Easy pushbutton programming ensures
quick use. In addition, the sensor features scratch-resistant
precision lenses for minimum sensitivity to scattered light.
Infrared sensors come into their own where temperatures can only be
measured indirectly, that means not directly on the surface if, for
example, the temperature is too high. The sensors detect the emitted
infrared radiation and convert it into an output signal depending on the
chosen switching threshold. The unit features two independent switching
outputs for universal programming.
The switching thresholds and output configurations can be set and easily
reproduced via the buttons and display. Clearly visible LEDs always
indicate the switching status. Even in rough environments, such as in
steelworks or foundries, where ifm's new TW7 type infrared temperature
sensor is for example used to detect hot slabs, the sensor operation is
reliable and highly accurate.
