Supported and encouraged by her
parents ,leah developed the
confidence and drive to excel in
schools and participated fully in
school activities. Her high school
had never had an African American
cheerleader, but that didn’t hold
her back. She diligentaly
rehearsed the routines and broke
the school’s color barrier when she
was selected for cheerleader team.

She earned full scholarship in
Cornell university, graduated with
honors in June of 1976,then
completed her law studies at
Emory university law school in

others to win the respect of
my peers and the lawyers who
