2. • The video begins by
following a run down
Chevrolet as it drives
down a long country road.
By having the miss en
scene of an southern
countryside we are
already witnessing
conventions of this genre.
• She then lies on the
grass, next to a pond
as she sings her song
playing with an old
fashioned radio. This
iddlic setting of a pond
surrounded by grass is
also typical of the
country genre.
3. • The interior of the
truck is also vintage
and run down with
an old fashioned
radio inside which
keeps to the slightly
vintage look of a
country video.
• As the truck drives,
it is surrounded by
trees and greenery
on a sunny day. We
also see pans of
meadows and other
greenery.
4. • In amongst the
meadows there is
a wheat meadow
which is filled with
dried grass and
other farmed
crops.
• In this wheat field
we then cut to
Swift and a male
figure walking
through holding
hands, often in a
country video we
see a narrative.
5. • A recurring shot through
out the video is of Swift
lying next to a barn
playing her guitar. The
barn and guitar are both
conventions of a country
video, however as she
plays the guitar this also
leads to the assumption
she is an organic artist.
• Later we see the
couple carrying on
the narratives they sit
in the bad of the truck
as they stare at the
stars, comforted by
blankets and pillows.
6. • As the narrative is
carried on we see Swift
hugging the male
character as they are
surrounded by trees and
blue skies. She were a
frilly orange top with light
denim jeans. He wears a
checked shirt over a
white t-shirt matched with
denim jeans.
• The setting of Swift
playing outside a barn is
brought back later, but
this time is a much closer
shot. The idea of her
playing a guitar is
reinforced, showing her
as a organic artist, once
again.
