project. If a different project manager has had great experiences previously with similar projects, he

does play a lot into these negative and positive attitudes but also the relationship of the project
manager with the people that the project is for or the project team can affect the outcome or even
the start of a project. If the project manager has had positive experiences with these people the
project will run much more smoothly and probably come out quite successful but if there are
personality conflicts or a myriad of different negative items between these parties a project could
complete very poorly or even fail.
The type of team that works on a project also affects the outcome greatly. If this team has worked
on other projects that were similar in type and scope of the project they were assigned they have a
great wealth of knowledge that can be shared among each other. There are not many people in the
world today that knows everything but, by pooling together diverse backgrounds that can share
their knowledge, this knowledge in essence can become one. With this great knowledge base, much

The main issue that I had to deal with during the project is the near absence of the action plan. The
plan should consists of a number of action/steps that need to be performed in order to reach the
research project's objectives. Due to the absence of an action plan, we wasted time/efforts by either
doing nothing or doing things that are irrelevant. Besides, the research project workload was not
divided between us in a fair manner. This is mainly due to the absence of both a solid project

Prior to this course, I thought that in order to manage a project you need to be a project manager.

Since I'm planning to work both within and outside the United States, I believe the PMP

WHY PROJECT MANAGEMENT? Project Management has become increasingly important for
any corporation, organization, government agency, and even small businesses in the last couple of
decades. Project Management, as defined in the text, is the application of knowledge, skills, and
techniques to accomplish projects successfully and proficiently. It is a tool utilized to keep
projects and its tasks organized, but if not used correctly, can bring down the entire project
operation. I have witnessed, first hand, a Project Manager (PM) accomplishing his goals and tasks

The scope of a project cannot be elusive otherwise the project tasks will become poor in quality
and lack substance to the end results. Being unclear with the project's scope can cause scope creep.
If the client expects certain results and feels they were delivered inadequately, then the scope
contains, what I like to call, a "grey area". Don't leave anything within your scope open–ended. The
life cycle with a finite due date attribute refers to all start ups, peaks, ups and downs, and
completion due dates within a project. Times vary for completion of tasks and as explained prior,
some tasks have to be completed so that other tasks can begin. Think of life cycle and due dates
as a timeline or a histogram for the project. Calculating the unexpected is almost impossible, but
any good Project Manager will learn to expect certain problems to arise and adapt accordingly.
Whether a project starts hard and fast or begins slow, due dates have to be followed diligently. One
project completion can also be the start up of the next follow on project. Having more than one
project, working side by side at the same time, utilizing the same organizational resources is known
as the inter dependencies attribute. Resources may be scarce in the organization due to the ongoing

In project management, there are many methods to handle how the project should be completed,
how an ethical situation should be handled, what types of decisions should be made. Furthermore,
how much knowledge the project manager should possess, their focus of completing the job on
budget and schedule, and understand the scope, as well as, knowing how to communicate.
When I completed OGL 320: Foundations of Project Management, I understood the hard work the
project manager had to endure to complete a successful project. They are the individuals who are
responsible, knowledgeable, and are great communicators with a mindset of completing an
outstanding project. I feel that I boosted my knowledge and grew throughout the OGL 321: Project
Leadership class during this Fall of 2016. Sharing our experiences regarding the simulations to the
module discussion paper that are completed at the end of each module has acquired me to
understand what can be accomplished with different strategies. Each module discussion paper
provided me an insight of the project manager's challenges, and what are the main important points
to complete a project with success. In addition, this class assisted me in recognizing and
concentrating in areas, such as, principles, practices, and leadership.
Project management requires a solid management plan focusing on scope and scheduling risks,
communication, good decision making, how to deal with uncertainties, ethics, and to practice the
situational leadership
