Alltel Wireless Customers To Be Covered By AT&T
Ohioans who previously received wireless telecom services through Alltel wireless are seeing their
services switch to AT&T, the company has announced.
The service change impacts more than 50,000 customers in 21 Ohio counties.
The transfer is being made as part of AT&T's 2013 acquisition of Alltel's wireless business.
"We've worked day and night to upgrade our network in Ohio so that former Alltel customers will
have a great experience with AT&T," said Adam Grzybicki, president of AT&T Ohio.
"These customers now have access to a better combined network; in fact, AT&T's 4G LTE network
is capable of data speeds up to 10 times faster than the 3G speeds on the former Alltel network.
Customers now also enjoy the latest smartphones and tablets and have award-winning retail
locations to meet their wireless needs."3
AT&T said it has been upgrading the Alltel network to get better resul ts for customers. It added that
former Alltel customers will also benefit from having more cell towers and better call quality.
"AT&T's investment - in network infrastructure, store improvements and the jobs that accompany
both - show the company's overall commitment to this area," said Sen. Troy Balderson (R-Zanesville).
"These upgrades are important to the people and businesses in mostly rural areas of
Ohio, who want and need access to the same technological tools enjoyed in larger communities. We
are delighted to welcome these positive changes within our state."
