BankIslami has successfully crossed the century mark by setting up 102* online branches in 49
cities across Pakistan in just two and a half years. With a nationwide presence including 37
branches in Sindh, 44 branches in Punjab,11 branches in Baluchistan, 8 branches in NWFP and
2 branches in Azad Kashmir, BankIslami has recorded the fastest growth by any bank in
Pakistan’s banking history.
Authenticated by a renowned Shariah board with a diversified portfolio of Shariah Complaint
products, BankIslami is committed towards serving you, the right way. The bank envisioned to
focus primarily on Wealth Management as the core area of business in addition to Shariah
compliant Retail Banking products, Proprietary and Third party products, and Integrated
financial planning services.BankIslami, in line with its aggressive growth strategy, achieved
sizable expansion in both its finances and deposits over the period of its operations. While
growth in deposits is mainly supported by individual depositors conscious of Shariah
compliance, Corporate and SMEs were main contributories towards expansion of the advances
portfolio. Moreover, BankIslami made inroads into the consumer segment with launch of home
financing product – Muskun and Car Ijara products. Nonetheless, Corporate lending continued
dominating BankIslami’s advances portfolio, with overall low asset yield restricting any material
improvement in spreads. The bank, in addition to expanding its current corporate and SMEs loan
book, has penetrated further, though cautiously, into the consumer segment.

SELECTION INTERVIEWS CONDUCTED BY BANK ISLAMI
All organizations conduct interviews to add new employees in an organization, such interviews
are also conducted by BankIslami by following criteria:

TYPES OF INTERVIEW:

HOW INTERVIEWS ARE ADMINSTRETED:
BankIslami usually conducts panel interviews in which a single candidate is seated in panel of
interviewee that may include HR managers, Branch managers, Operating mangers etc…

STRUCTURE AND UNSTRUCTURED INTERVIEWS:
BankIslami conducts both unstructured and structured interviews. In structured interview there is
pre-planned outline of interview while in unstructured interview there is no pre-planned outline
and questions are planned at the time of interview for example Tell us about your past job
experience???

TYPES OF QUESTIONS:
In selection interviewee, interviewee may ask such questions through which they can check the
behavior of candidate for example If we appoint you for job of peon what will you do???
A person who may have came for the job of cashier, managers or any other seat then what will
his response towards this question. Definitely he will show some different attitude. Such
questions are used to study one’s behavior!

FIRST IMPRESSION:
As BankIslami is an Islamic bank so the interviewee always firstly focus on the dressing of the
candidate that is it according to the requirements of Islam or not! If the candidate is not dressed
properly then it will create negative effect on the interviewee and if the candidate is in proper
dress then it will create positive effect on interviewee. According to the proverb First impression
is the last impression. So first impression moves along the candidate’s personality through out
the interview. If candidate is not dressed properly then interviewee may set his mind about
candidate and it will be very difficult task for candidate to make interviewee change his mind.
PREFERENCE TO EXPERIENCE:
BankIslami prefers experience for some seats as they require it. This is a very important factor
that cannot be ignored a candidate with experience is mostly preferred because they can perform
a better job.
For example the job of cashier do not require much experience so fresh candidates are also
preferred but for higher jobs like Branch manager or Operation manager require much
experience so candidate with maximum experience is preferred.

AGE LIMIT:
Age limit for job varies for position to position as some positions require young and energetic
people around 25-29. The seats of cashier or accountant require young people while for higher
positions like for Branch managers mature candidates are required.
So age limit varies from one position to another!!!

PREFERENCE TO REFERENCE:
BankIslami usually do not accept reference because it creates a sense of injustice.
Sometimes employee reference is acceptable because it makes a trust on by the reference of
already working employee if new employee do something wrong then employee who referred
that candidate is investigated bi HR managers.
But political reference is strictly not acceptable because it creates a sense of injustice among the
employee and because of this may be a deserving candidate do not get a job. That’s why political
reference is avoided by HR managers.

SELF-CONFIDENCE:
In Bankislami HR managers 100% focus on self confidence it is more important than physical
appearance because self confidence helps you where physical appearance fails.

PROBLEMS IN INTERVIEW:
HALO EFFECT:
In halo effect candidate allows a single prominent character to dominate all other traits that
single character may be negative or positive and it usually causes confusion whether to appoint
candidate or not!!!

OVER GENERALIZING:
This problem usually occurs in interviews because a candidate do not exactly as in normal
conditions this becomes a difficult task for interviewee to judge actual personality of a candidate
so they make decision on risk. They may or may not be wrong in judgment.

QUESTION SESSION:
BankIslami do not conduct a special question session but if the candidate asks any question at the
end of interview they answer the question. But the interviewee becomes more satisfied with
candidate if he/she know much about organization!

All organizations conduct interviews to add new employees in an organization, such interviews are also conducted by BankIslami by following criteria: TYPES OF INTERVIEW: HOW INTERVIEWS ARE ADMINSTRETED: BankIslami usually conducts panel interviews in which a single candidate is seated in panel of interviewee that may include HR managers, Branch managers, Operating mangers etc… STRUCTURE AND UNSTRUCTURED INTERVIEWS: BankIslami conducts both unstructured and structured interviews. In structured interview there is pre-planned outline of interview while in unstructured interview there is no pre-planned outline and questions are planned at the time of interview for example Tell us about your past job experience??? TYPES OF QUESTIONS: In selection interviewee, interviewee may ask such questions through which they can check the behavior of candidate for example If we appoint you for job of peon what will you do??? A person who may have came for the job of cashier, managers or any other seat then what will his response towards this question. Definitely he will show some different attitude. Such questions are used to study one’s behavior! FIRST IMPRESSION: As BankIslami is an Islamic bank so the interviewee always firstly focus on the dressing of the candidate that is it according to the requirements of Islam or not! If the candidate is not dressed properly then it will create negative effect on the interviewee and if the candidate is in proper dress then it will create positive effect on interviewee. According to the proverb First impression is the last impression. So first impression moves along the candidate’s personality through out the interview. If candidate is not dressed properly then interviewee may set his mind about candidate and it will be very difficult task for candidate to make interviewee change his mind.
  • 10. PREFERENCE TO EXPERIENCE: BankIslami prefers experience for some seats as they require it. This is a very important factor that cannot be ignored a candidate with experience is mostly preferred because they can perform a better job. For example the job of cashier do not require much experience so fresh candidates are also preferred but for higher jobs like Branch manager or Operation manager require much experience so candidate with maximum experience is preferred. AGE LIMIT: Age limit for job varies for position to position as some positions require young and energetic people around 25-29. The seats of cashier or accountant require young people while for higher positions like for Branch managers mature candidates are required. So age limit varies from one position to another!!! PREFERENCE TO REFERENCE: BankIslami usually do not accept reference because it creates a sense of injustice. Sometimes employee reference is acceptable because it makes a trust on by the reference of already working employee if new employee do something wrong then employee who referred that candidate is investigated bi HR managers. But political reference is strictly not acceptable because it creates a sense of injustice among the employee and because of this may be a deserving candidate do not get a job. That’s why political reference is avoided by HR managers. SELF-CONFIDENCE: In Bankislami HR managers 100% focus on self confidence it is more important than physical appearance because self confidence helps you where physical appearance fails. PROBLEMS IN INTERVIEW: HALO EFFECT: In halo effect candidate allows a single prominent character to dominate all other traits that single character may be negative or positive and it usually causes confusion whether to appoint candidate or not!!! OVER GENERALIZING:

This problem usually occurs in interviews because a candidate do not exactly as in normal conditions this becomes a difficult task for interviewee to judge actual personality of a candidate so they make decision on risk. They may or may not be wrong in judgment. QUESTION SESSION: BankIslami do not conduct a special question session but if the candidate asks any question at the end of interview they answer the question. But the interviewee becomes more satisfied with candidate if he/she know much about organization!
