Revenir is a Third Person Action game, combined with a tactical element in the form of a magical
weapon, inspired by popular games like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy Type 0 Bioshock, Fatal Bullet, and
Silent Hill. The game is telling a dark military story with horror-fantasy, and the themes like revenge,
occultism, conspiracy and nature will wrap the game’s story.
4. 1.0 INTRODUCTION
Revenir is a Third Person Action game, combined with a tactical element in the form of a magical
weapon, inspired by popular games like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy Type 0 Bioshock, Fatal Bullet, and
Silent Hill. The game is telling a dark military story with horror-fantasy, and the themes like revenge,
occultism, conspiracy and nature will wrap the game’s story.
2.0 STORY
2.1 SETTINGS
The game is set in a Fantasy Industrial world with several countries where technology is powered by
magical gas-like material called miasma. Miasma is a mist with purple color, scattered in several
locations on Aurecias’s continent, making Aurecia the only country which can harvest these Miasma
and distribute them to the world. This magical gas is used for almost any technology in this world,
making it a vital thing for any nation.
Unfortunately, these Miasma is not easy to harvest, since for unknown reason a strange hostile
creature also respawn with them, these creatures are known to be strong and can use magical ability
to attack everyone which brave enough to get near, also a human which exposed by Miasma
continuously, will lost consciousness and turn into similar monster like the one who respawn with
miasma in a matter of hours. Harvesting these resources has become very dangerous.
To combat Miasma's monster, a group of soldiers is formed, called the Red Army. They are trained to
eliminate these threats from Miasma, and can endure the Miasma effect longer than the average
human. They also equipped with a tablet-like shaped crystal called ‘Card’. These Card crafted from
crystalized miasma, and can trap the energy of miasma monster who has slain, the filled Card can be
used to cast spell similar with the energy which being infused, making them is very handy to counter
these creatures. Red Army has a license to inject small portions of filtered miasma to use magic by
their own will without negative side effects thanks to Aurecian scientists.
5. 2.2 PLOT
The Game follows an Elite squad seven, part of the magical wielder soldier called Red legion,
employed by the Central Government to combat malice usage of miasma. Miasma is the root of world
civilization, as the main energy source to aid humanity in their lives.
Squad Seven is tasked to check a small town called Eastorn Hill accident, which happened several days
ago. The city became silent. The squad arrives at Eastorn Hill, sees the town is emptied. The scouts
reported to them that the city seemed abandoned suddenly. It might be suggested by released
miasma substances that linger in the air to the point of visible to naked eyes. The Squad Commander,
Vayn, orders the team to approach the town from front. but sudden explosions separated the team.
Vayn wakes up in his room, and is confused, because he recalls he is still on Eastorn Hill. After
regaining his stance, Vayn starts to explore outside the room, finds Natalie who is attacked by fast
moving enemy. Both emerge victors by utilizing Natalie's heightened sense. Both search for other
elites, Maximus and Riot.

The squad finds Demitri, who said that they are all sacrificed for the experiment to combat enemies
called Umbra.
6. 3.0 GAMEPLAY
3.1 COMBAT
In Revenir, Player is playing as Vayne, in third person shooter style with aiming, using a filtered miasma
infused handgun which its handle extended for close quarter combat. When enemy is near, player can
unleash close combat with its handle. Vayne also utilized magic infused Cards which cast the spell
based on souls which were trapped in cards.

3.1.2 Movement
Player can move freely with Left analog, in this mode, player can move agile and faster. All unique
controls such as climbing, evading some enemy moves, can be accessed by tapping ▲ as general
action button. Player can tap R2 to do quick shots. Quick shot is using auto aiming and handled by
tilting right analog to find target. By default, it will seek the closest enemy. Vayn can also Dash, to
dodge enemies or to shorten distance by using X. Player can manually reload as well by tapping ◼ and
use ● to use the selected Item in item shortcut.
9. 3.1.3 ARMS
Player can aim with Right Analog, to move the pointer to enemy and by pressing R2 to shoot. Player’s
pointer collider is able to track enemy location to ease shooting, or soft lock. Should the pointer be
too far, the soft lock will be unlocked and player needs to move pointer to the enemy again. Player can
do precise aiming by holding L2, to trigger focus mode. In focus mode, player can aim with right
analog freely, and there are options to use manual aiming or soft-lock aiming.
Note: The enemy will have distance for each other to avoid it becoming crowded and messing up the
soft lock.
3.1.4 Extender
Another arsenal Vayne has is Extender, a melee weapon extended from Vayne’s handgun. Extender is
used whenever Vayne has a chance to melee attack enemies. Player cannot manually melee attack
enemy. Instead, occasionally enemies will have a melee UI in their head, when this icon is active,
player can hit them by pressing ▲ or action button to trigger a melee sequence. Melee Sequence
itself is an animation in which Vayne is attacking enemies and the damage can be boosted by pressing
the corresponding button ▲ or R2 depending on the animation. If timing is correct, damage will
increase as a critical hit.
3.1.5 Cards
The card will expire with one use, except certain rare cards which will be explained further. Player can
collect more cards by slain the enemy, and their energy will be trapped by the cards and added to
player inventory. The cards which will be used in battle are assembled in a magic deck, which player
configure from the menu. The assembled card will show up one by one in battle matched by deck.
When the deck is emptied then the cards in battle will be taken from remaining cards which are
unassembled in player inventory. Based how they used there is four type of card:
10. Offensive
Used to damage enemies directly, usually with elemental effect or debuff attached to them,
making bonus damage if enemies elemental is opposite. This card is used by deployed on the floor
and active when the enemy steps on it. This card is also stackable, meaning they can be deployed
in the same position to strengthen the effect.
Example:
- Fire Orb : All attack will inherit Fire elemental properties
- Slime : Enemy moving 50% slower
- Open Wound: Making enemy receive 1.5x normal damage
Support
Giving player healing or buff effect, when not directly damaging the enemy, can be useful to
weaken them and power player’s attack. These card spells are active instantly when player casts
them and will expire in a specific period for buff effect.
Example:
- Sword Card : Player will receives Attack + 30% Buff
- Magic Wall : All Damage is cut 30%
Summon
Conjure spirit of enemy which has fallen in the battle to perform powerful attack to enemy. This
card is deployed similarly with the offensive card, but rather than inactive until the enemy steps
on it, the astral image of creature/enemy will appear and perform an attack to surrounding enemy
in a short period before disappearing.
Example:
- Fallen Sentry : A fallen soldier will appear and attack random enemy with rifle
- Barragus : A spirit of creature who block enemy to try attack the player
Enchant
Rather than attack this will enchant player's weapon, either its arms or extender, making them
inflict enchanted bonus damage for a certain period. Similar to a support card, the spell will cast
instantly.

- Fire Coat : Enchant player normal weapon to inflict fire bonus damage
- Rust Coat : Enchant player normal weapon to weaken enemy armor
There is also a certain rare card called ‘Ace Card’ which is obtainable through story or optional
sidequest. Unlike regular cards, the Ace card will not expire when being used but rather inactive for a
certain period(cooldown) before it can be used again, these cards usually have strong ability which is
very useful as the ultimate weapon against a hard enemy like boss. Following is Example of Cards:
Lover’s memories
Ace Card inherited from Iris, revives Vayne for once, and cools down for 10 minutes.
HydroFlare
Ace Card inherited from fallen boss, inflict large area damage with inflict slow to enemy who
survive
3.2 CUSTOMIZATION
Player also can upgrade their equipment, making the combat much easier and rewarding. Basic
equipment like accessories and pouch items, give player useful effects like buffing defense, fire rate, or
even longer miasma endurance when player is exposed to them, for a certain period.
3.2.1 ARMS Customization
Upgrade basic gun and melee weapon to give boost inflicted damage to basic attack or fire rates, give
chance to kill lower level enemy without wasting card on them. Other means for customizations are
ammo types, such as :
Normal Ammo
Normal ammo without special properties also can be applied with elemental buff. Normal sized
reticule.
12. Spread Ammo
Effective in short distance, damages are small but clustered in several hits at once. Can be applied
with elemental buff. Wide sized reticule.
Pierce Ammo
Effective in long distance, damage is big but having disadvantage of recoil and low rates of fire.
Cannot be applied with elemental buff. Smaller sized reticule.
Blast Ammo
Blast Ammo damage is big but having disadvantage of recoil and low rates of fire. Having
advantage of double hit, ammo hit and blast effect with possibility of stunning enemy. Cannot be
applied with elemental buff. Big sized reticule.
3.2.2 Extender Customization
Like the ammo counterpart, There are three types of Extender:
- Baton : Baton style Extender which hit hard but had a smaller hit area.
- Blade : Blade style Extender which hit wide but had lower damage than Hard Edge.
- Magus : Specialized to extend magical properties of elementals and applied to each attack.
All of them can be upgraded for more damage and proficiency in magic effect bonus.
3.2.2 MAGICards Customization
When an enemy is slain, their souls will fill a card and automatically be added to player inventory,
from this, player have more cards to use, or combine two of them into more powerful cards, which
can have stronger effects or can have multiple magic effects in a single card. Following is the example
of combining cards:
13. - Fire 1 + Fire 1 + Fire 1 = Fire 2
- Fire 1 + Fire 1 + Earth 1 = Meteor
- Water 1 + Wind 1 + Water 2 = Hurricane
Note: elemental position is not strict, any combination is fine as long as following the pattern.
Player also can upgrade magic decks with only 10 slots for starters, however they can upgrade not
only to contain more slots, but also make individual slots to contain more powerful cards, making a
more powerful arsenal to bring into battle.
3.3 GAME DESIGN
The game is divided by chapter, each chapter will be based on the story progress. Following is flow per
chapter:
Start > Cinematic / Cutscene > Stage/Sub/Boss > Exploration > Cutscene > Stage end

Start > Cinematic / Cutscene > Exploration > Stage/Sub/Boss > Cutscene > Stage End
In the exploration phase there are also many optional things to do, making the game less linear.
14. 3.4 EXPLORATION
The game not only contains linear levels but also open areas a hub alike, where Vayn can explore Red
legion’s military base, to find hidden items, trade with NPC or talk to them, some of them maybe can
lead to interesting optional side quests, submission or secrets.
- Vayn will have home base, red legion army base in capital
- Some of army base’s area cannot be explored and will be unlocked as story progressed
- There are several locations outside base which also housing NPC
- Vayn will be able to explore home base, including their room. Some achievement items are displayed
in Vayn’s Room.
- customize uniform or casual outfit, unlocking by progressing story or visit regilis clothes store,
available by finishing sidequests.
- customize weapon R&D by collecting research data, research data can be returned to R&D in base for
upgrading or switching to other weapons.
- unlocking passive ability by visiting the red legion training ground.
- Vayn may visit natural specialized blacksmith in regilis, outside base, by accessing the garage, near
the black smith location, there is also available fishing minigame.
- Vayn can access sidequest via interacting with NPCs around base, or in interactive area outside
military base
- In Free Scouting, Vayn is able to find anomalies which are useful for card grinding. This mission can
be repeated many times. At first, Vayn can only explore a few places, but later on, options will be
wider as the story progresses.
15. 3.5 BOUNTIES
Bounties are rather simpler tasks that might be completed or not completed and have no penalty but
give rewards once done, they will be listed in the journal menu. Example of Bounties is:
- Defeat 4 soldiers in one attack
- Collect 10 crystalized miasma
- Receive 5 cards from one battle
- Destroy Monster without magic
- Kill monster who block the road
Bounties can be repeated by engine semi randomly, Vayn can choose several bounties in the
exploration area, before they venture in the next stage or mission.
3.6 SIDEQUEST
Side Quest are quests that are optional but reward Vayn for completion, they will be listed in the
journal menu. Example of side quest are:
- Defeat certain enemies to give access of npc goes into town without problem
- Search cure for certain NPC
- Find missing traveler
- Uncover the smuggling of Miasma cylinder
- Solve the murderer of Red Army soldier in the public park
- Find 3 Oasis in wasteland
Some of them can be seen from simple to complex, with narrative in them, making it like a mini story.
16. 3.7 SECRETS
Unlike Bounties and Sidequest, the secrets will not be listed in the journal menu when active but will
be listed when Vayn completes them. Player completely blind to them and just using wits, clues from
NPC and analyzing surroundings to find the secrets, they can be from jokes, easter eggs or even rare
items. Following is the example of them:
- Find hidden Talking Chicken
- In the wasteland by 1PM you can see someone chased by dog
- Find hidden treasure of Captain Dead Eye
- Find hidden Miasma spot which acknowledged by Red Army
- There is a mysterious old man who walks and whistles in the park every 3AM. Follow him and you
will find …
4.0 DEVELOPMENT TOOLS
Unity Engine is used for development tools as well as Visual Studio for IDE, while for assets, Blender is
used for 3D Modeling, Adobe Photoshop for Texture/Material and Adobe Illustrator for drawing
Graphics.
