1. Group meetings.
For the new unit, unit 20. we had to make a promotional video about our school for the new
year 6s and the parents to chose this school.
The first thing we had decided on was choosing what rolls we should all take. We decided to
split everything equally so we all have something to do. We would share the paper work, the
filming and the editing. We thought this would be the best way because it would be less time
consuming and we could be more up to date with everything. This was the first meeting at
the start of the unit.
We did not have any further meeting because we felt we were doing well the way we were
heading, but we would check each others work just to make sure that we were doing it up to
the standard needed and keeping up to date.
2. Brainstorm
From our renascent research we found out that most promotional videos either start with
the headmaster or an establishing shot of the whole school, we chose to film the outside of
the school strait away so we can get out establishing shot out of the way, this was a good
idea because we knew what to do and it was easy to edit as it came first when we uploaded
it.
We then decided to film inside the school, we done this because we wanted some nice
panning shots of the school and of the playground. These shots where effective because it
gave a calm and safe feeling when we put it in the edit. We also chose to film the buildings
first because they were the most accessible things to film at the start, this was because
students were in lesson and teachers were either teaching lessons or busy doing work.
We then decided to film some students, we filmed the older ones first because they could
properly explain how it felt coming to Haverstock, we did film the younger students as well
but we noticed that some of them could not really explain it in formal English. We did
provide them with assistance asking them to practice what they were going to say.
We then decided to film some classes in action we thought this was a good idea because it
allowed people to see how the students and what the environment is like in Haverstock.
3. After all of that we finally filmed the teachers and staff, we filmed some of the teachers that
would have some free time and we also filmed the police man of Haverstock to show the
parents that it’s a very safe school. We then filmed Mr Dowd/Head teacher of the school
we could not film him earlier because he was busy but we managed to film him finally
when he was free. We filmed Mr Dowd the longest because we felt that he could provide
people with the most information about the school and he could present the schol in the
best way.
