Audience Feedback (Music Video) Song title – Here without you
Overlook “11 males completed feedback” “4 females completed feedback” “nine 17 year olds” “Five 16 year olds” “One 19 year old” “Average rating for the video was 8.4/10”
What type of music do you normally listen to? “ rock, pop, dubstep” “soul” “anything – mainly chart” “rock” “everything” “anything, mainly indie” “indie/acoustic” “alternative” “the fray” “grime” “anything, except rap/hip hop” “ dubstep and some chart music” “hip hop/ R & B” “alternative rock”
What did you like about the music video? “very good” “the effects” “shots/background” “the fades” “the band shots” “ shots of the band, singer showed emotion. The concept of the girl disapearing was good” “the band. It worked really well and the lights coming on” “I thought the guitar/band shots were good” “editing used and continuity” “singing was in time (lip sync). Shots. “the editing was excellent, with the instruments “the editing” “the light sequence” “everything” “ everything. I think it filled every convention and code needed”
How did the music video make you feel? “sad” “sad” “sad” “uplifted” “normal” “emotional” “sad – personal” “sad” “sad because the couple don’t seem to be together through use of flashback editing” “happy, calm” “emotional” “lonely” “sad” “sad” “depressed – but I loved it”
Did you think there was a narrative? If so, what? “guy loses girl” “no” “yes – him being on his own” “nope” “a what?” “losing his girlfriend” “yes – being on his own” “not in particular – the guy is seeing her but she’s gone”
What was your favourite part? “the end effect where she disappears” “fades out” “the flash lights turning on” “ghost bit at end” “was all really good” “shots of the band” “everything” “the band shots” “the band shots” “The band/singer shots” “the shot at the end where the girl disappears” “the end was really cool” “the end” “the flashing lights” “ swing shot where it cut from black & white to colour and the female character disapeared”
Is there anything you disliked about the video? “the band shots were plain” “the shot where it’s far too grey” “no” “no” “the location. Ferry meadows is not a good place” “a few of the ferry meadow shots” “no, I enjoyed it” “the way the actors portrayed emotion” “the location”
Is it the kind of video you would normally watch? “five people answered yes” “9 people answered no” And…….”1 person answered maybe”
In conclusion From my audience feedback, I received generally positive views and opinions. Many commented on the effectiveness of the band shots, paying special attention to the timing of the lip syncing and the lighting sequence. This was perhaps, the positive feedback I was most thankful for as the band shots were my downfall on the previous take and therefore the area I put most of my attention on. A negative aspect brought up in a number of the forms was how one of the flashbacks was too dark and desaturated, while others commented on how the narrative shots were set in a poor location. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to re-shoot the narrative shots, however, I feel they are set in a very good environment and perceive the comments may be a result from people recognising the place as it is very common in our city. As for the flashback scene, I have re-edited these shots using the effect ‘colour correction’. This is an example of why audience feedback is so important. By receiving structured critisism before a products release, minor changes can be made to improve the final production.
