The Capacity Building and Income Generation (CBIG) Subcommittee of the Ethiopian Evaluation Association (EEvA) has the following key responsibilities:
1) Advise the EEvA board on matters relating to capacity building and income generating activities to strengthen the association's financial capacity and develop members' evaluation skills.
2) Develop training materials and curricula on monitoring and evaluation and identify members who can conduct trainings.
3) Organize conferences, workshops, and knowledge sharing events to connect thought leaders, employers, and educators in the evaluation field.
4) Develop strategies to generate income and strengthen the association financially.

Background

outside the board. The EthiopianEvaluationAssociation’s(EEvA) Memorandumof Association(Yekatite
2, 2002) providesauthoritytothe Boardto establishsub-committeestoeffectivelymanage the
associationsactivitiesandmeetthe objectivessetbythe general assembly(article 18,subarticle 2, C.)
The EEvA board isclear aboutthe purpose, responsibilitiesandboundariesof the sub-committee.
Hence,itunderstandsthatthe board hasultimate responsibilityforthe workof sub-committees.
Role
The role of the CBIG subcommittee isto advise the boardonmattersrelatingto capacitybuildingand
income generatingactivitiestostrengthenfinancialcapacityof the associationanddevelop members’
capacityin evaluation.
Responsibilities
CBIG subcommittee responsibilitiesmightinclude:
• Developtrainingmaterials regardingmonitoringandevaluation andrecommendrevisionsas
required;
• developcurriculumfor(intermediate andadvanced) of M&Etrainings;
• secure license fromChSA toundertake income generatingactivities;
Organize trainings;
Identifymemberswhocanconducttrainingsasper the associationterms;
Work closelywithothersubcommitteestostrengthandimprove visibilityof the association
Create a platformforknowledge sharingandexchange betweenM&Erelevantthoughtleaders,
employersandeducatorsasappropriate
Encourage and supportmemberswhowouldliketopresentpapersduringannual general
meeting
Make sure membersare upto date with innovative M&Eapproaches,tools andtechnological
applications
Develop IGA strategiestostrengthenthe association
Organize conference/workshopsas appropriate.
Membership
The subcommittee will be chairedbythe boardsvice president.All associationmembers(Institutional
and individual)whohave interestandcapacityinthisarea are eligible.
2. Authority
The subcommittee hasadvisoryrole andactivitieswhichneeddecisionshouldbe broughttothe
attentionof the boardbefore decisionsare made bythe subcommittee. However,the subcommittee
has authoritytoenterintoagreementwiththirdpartyonce the activityisapprovedbythe board.
Frequencyof meetingandchair
The subcommittee will conductregularmonthlymeetingatEEvA office orvenue whichisagreedupon
by the members.The monthlymeetingswillbe chairedbythe subcommittee chairor hisdelegate.The
subcommittee will have secretaryandotherstructuresasappropriate andapprovedbythe board.The
secretarywill documentmeetingsandotherrelevantsubcommitteedocumentationsandshare with
EEvA secretary.
MeetingRecording
The secretary of the subcommittee isresponsibletorecordanddocumentminutesof the
subcommittee.All recordsof subcommitteeminutesapprovedwillbe sharedwithboardsecretary.
Reporting
The subcommittee reportstothe board.The subcommittee chairisexpected toupdate the boardduring
regularboardmeetings. The boardwill give directiontothe subcommittee basedonthe update andthe
subcommittee chairisresponsible toshare the commentsanddirectionsprovidedtothe subcommittee
withcommittee members.
