2. One of the biggest problems we
humans have is that we still think like
cavemen.

3. According to biologists, humans and
chimps split off from a common
ancestor 2 MILLION years ago.

4. Which means whatever behaviors
chimps have that we also have are AT
LEAST 2 million years old.

5. Likely one of the most real and pesky
hunter-gatherer hangover is our
relentless desire to eat.

6. Our caveman brains don't know
there's a 7-11 every two feet.

7. It still thinks food is few and far
between.

8. So when an opportunity presents
itself, we eat like there's no tomorrow.

9. This strategy worked GREAT for cave-people.

10. Because they really didn't know where
their next meal was coming from.

11. Now? Not so much.

12. Another holdover from our ancient
history is our tendency to self
categorize ourselves into groups based
on some kind of hierarchy.

13. They've done this experiment again
and again.

14. They take a bunch of random people,
and stick them in some isolated
location.

15. It doesn't take long for a leader to
emerge.

16. Now, how do they determine a leader?

17. It's not like on TV where they have
discussions and vote.

18. Everybody just kind of assumes their
roles, which is either "follower" or
"leader."

19. They just kind of look out, take a quick
inventory of everybody around them,
and kind of "feel out" who's strong,
and who's not.

20. It's very similar to that goofy card
game where you pick a card, hold it to
your forehead without looking at it.

21. Everybody tries to guess their own
worth, compared to everybody else,
based on the cards that others have.

22. If you look out into the group of
strangers, and feel that YOU are the
strongest, you'll naturally start to act
like a leader, and they'll naturally start
to follow.

23. This won't require any shouting or
chest thumping.

24. It's very natural, and everybody
generally agrees pretty quickly AND
pretty subconsciously, who's who.

25. Now, here's the important part.

26. The more situations where YOU
become the natural leader, the more
opportunities you'll have.

27. People will agree with you.

28. People will offer to help you.

29. People will naturally support you when
you get into trouble.

30. People will even fight your battles for
you to prove their loyalty.

31. There's nothing fishy or manipulative
going on here.

32. This is purely subconscious, purely
natural, and completely voluntary.

33. The truth is that most people would
rather be followers.

34. People are generally too afraid to leave
the pack, even if to lead it.
