1. 4) How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? I have used a vast amount of media technologies to help make my media project. If I wasn’t allowed access to advanced media technologies then I wouldn’t have been able to have make the trailer, magazine front cover or the poster nearly as effective as they are now. Construction and research stage In the construction and research stage I used the internet a lot to find out different British gangster films. I also used the computers to make my pitch which I had to present in front of the class to say my idea for what my media project will be. Without the media technologies used in this stage I would not have been able to have done much research because I would have had to do all the research at home meaning I wouldn’t have had as much time. I also wouldn’t have been able to present my pitch.

2. Planning stage In the planning stage I used the computers to make the posters and magazine front cover. I used photo shop on the computers which helped me to make the layers on the poster and magazines making them look a lot more effective. Also you can make the background colour and text look more attractive. You can also cut out parts of picture that you want such as the characters in the poster and magazine front cover. In the trailer I also used the photo shop on the computers to make the institutions. I added pictures to the text on the institution name to make it look better than just a words. As you can see the blood and aim from a gun looks more eye catching and effective then the one above with just writing. The characters introductions were done on the photo shop as well because you can cut things out. I added effects to the characters when I cut them out such as I put a fade on the picture of Harry. By using photo shop I could create this frame and be able to put it back onto my trailer. I used a camera to film the shots and a tripod to keep the camera still while I was filming. I used the mac computers to put the filming I have done onto. The mac computers have a program called imovie which lets you edit the work you have done. This is what I have mainly been using for the film trailer. I would upload the shots onto the mac and then put to one side the ones I didn’t need. I would then drag the shot that I do need and will show me the length of the shot. With the mac you can edit the sound of the shot which I had to do to stop you hearing laughing in one shot. With most of the shots I had to cut them to make them shorter making the trailer faster paced. I used the title of just business from the texts you can used from imovie. I could also use lots of different transition shots such as fades and dissolves. With imovie you can slow down or speed up the shot which I thought looked really good in on shot where they chips are being thrown in at the poker game. On imovie you can also retract sound from a shot which I did where ‘Sal’ says ‘the briefcase, its gone.’ I took the sound from a shot and then kept the sound but got rid of the shot so the shot came over the top of a different shot. You could also have music in the video so it made my trailer a lot more effective.

3. Evaluating stage The media technologies I have used in the evaluating stage are I have used the mac to make the trailer be burned to DVD so I could get feedback from friends and family. I have used the computers to view the posters and magazine front covers. I have used the computers for going on the blog . This is where I have stored all my work that I have done going from research to evaluation. What I would have done without these technologies Without the technologies that I have used I would not have been able to make a trailer anywhere near as effective as it is now. If I didn’t have the video camera then I wouldn’t be able to take as good quality videos because my camera isn’t very good quality. Without the macs I wouldn’t have been able to make the trailer because I don’t have any software that will let me manipulate video shots. I wouldn’t have been able to manipulate the music either so it was very important that I was able to use this equipment but with so many people needing to use the macs it was hard to always be able to use them so there was a slight amount of time lost due to this.
