One of the thingsI love mostaboutthe puppyraisingexperience isthateachexperience isdifferent.
Each puppygivesme differentchallengesandtriumphs.Sure Ican have puppiesthatare similarin
some ways, buttheycan also be verydifferentinotherways.Raisingapoodle sofarhas beena very
differentexperience thanall the otherbreedsof puppiesIhave raised.
Pixie isaverysmart, sweet,sensitive puppywholovestogoeverywhere withme.Iamherworld.
She isa verydifferentdogtodaythanshe was lastyear.Last yearshe was a tinypuppytryingto
figure outthe world. The worldwasa veryscary place forher. She wasverytimidandunsure of
manythingsthat we came across. She wouldwalkslowlythroughstoresasthe atmosphere wasa
little overwhelmingforherasa youngpuppy.She wouldbarkat stuffedanimalsorotherobjectsin
storesbecause she didn’tunderstandwhattheywere.She washesitanttowalkbyrefrigeration
units. She wasafraidto walkby papersor bagsblowinginthe wind.Metal coveringsonthe sidewalk
were alsoscary and she wouldwalkaroundthem.Thingsinthe darkwere veryscary forPixie.Fire

The other bigthingthat she wasnervousaboutwas people she didn’tknow. She wasveryaloof
withmycoworkersand she wasn’tinterestedinreallyanyoneotherthanMatt or I. A couple of
timesIhandedherleashoff to friendswhenwe were outwiththem.Evenif Iwalkedrightnextto
2. hershe knewthatI didn’thave herleashandwouldbe nervoustowalkwiththe otherperson.Once
I tookher leashbackshe wouldjumpall overme like she hadn’tseenme indays.
Childrenhave alsobeenachallengerecentlyforPixie.Whenshe isaroundkidsthatare calm and
quiet,she isusuallyokwiththem.If kidsare runningaroundplayingorloudshe struggles.She gets
excitedandIreallyfeel likeshe justdoesn’tknow how toprocessthe energytheyhave. She isvery
curiousaboutkidsand wantsto checkthemout, butif theywalkupto herand try to pether she will
back awayand try to avoidthem.
Overthe last year(andespeciallythe lastfew months) Pixiehasgrownandchangedso much.I have
watchedherconfidence growimmensely.She walksthroughstoreswithconfidence anddoesn’t
waiverat the soundof keysjingling.Iwasable towalkherthrough Spirit’shalloweenstore andeven
large movinganimatronicsdidn’tsparkanegative reaction.She wasactuallycuriousaboutit.She
can now donighttime walksinthe dark withoutbarkingatanything.Thingsflappinginthe windare
no problemforhernow.Bigscary statues, evendogonesthatshe was once veryapprehensive
aboutapproaching, she can walkrightup to. I wasable to capture some great before andaftervideo
of howmuchPixie changedwhenapproachingalarge dog statue at the park. The first videowas
Pixie’sfirsttime seeingthe statue andshe wasverynervousaboutitand didn’twanttoget nearit;
she evenbarkedatit. It tookquite some time forme to convince herthatit wasok to check out.But
the amazingthingaboutPixie isthatshe learnsandrecoversfromthingsveryquickly.Ididn’trecord
my secondtime takingPixietothe statue, butshe wasmuch more confidentaboutit.Ididmanage
to recordour thirdtrip to the statue and watchingthe change inher wasamazing.Pixie walkedright
up to the statue like itwasno bigdeal. Now I can gether to notonlywalkup to it,but puther feet
