The large increase in Entrepreneurs is due to the economy.

Everyone seems to want more, things are not running at the normal smooth
waters of yesterday, and people want to express their frustration. The
streets of America are active with people expressing their American
Freedom of Right to Assemble, and when they act responsible, can help for
a short time only, after that it either gets noisy from one side or the other,
usually the law side based on history, so the people should be aware of the
need to VOTE out their solutions, not act out their solutions.

The right to assemble is a american born right of passage, no one can
upsurp that right of our forefathers. America’s founding families are in my
Kraft Family Tree. Washington, Adams, Monroe, Madison and Eisenhauer,
Albright, Souto Maior, Kennedy, Forbes, Munro, MacFarlane, Malcolm I
Scotland, Clinton, McNitt, McNutt, Allen, Smith, Joss, Stauffer, Cheney,
Halliburton, Stewarts, St. Clairs, deBrus, Henry King of England. Kings of
Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland,
Denmark, Holland, Scotland, Ireland my island... Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia,
Egypt, Libya, Israel, Palestine, China.

So I decided I needed a bigger plan!

The EDU Plan requires significant investment to accomplish its goals and
objectives which is to provide BroadbandPlus (wideband) to all of America
within six 6 months. This would require significant acceleration of our
build out progress. It would rehire and train and hire significant numbers
of semi skilled workers, I watched Verizon FIOS being installed by Mexican

workers in Florida in a large condo development. Multifamily dwelling
install rapidly once Fiber to the curb... Business Parks and buildings also
install rapidly once Fiber to the curb...

The country side (ranches and farms) of America needs to connect to the
Internet to sell their goods and services to the cities, people like to buy
American. Wireless networks will cover large territory rapidly and is easy
to repair. Then everyone is a local... ;)

We have Business Incubators in Idaho, Washington, Montana, Wyoming,
to Nevada, California, and Oregon to connect west of the Mississippi, then
we need another team coming from the East, they have more people in
small areas to connect.

A high Speed Rail would reenergize our economy due to the size and
scope of such an undertaking, we could become better friends with China,
and Germany which build the trains.

China has helped us before they built our last railroad about 100 years ago
or more, and we need to improve all terra fermi infrastructure anyways...

Without international partnerships, how can this needed repair happen at
this time? Why not increase the rebuilding of our infrastructure, it will take
years to do it... And we can therefore improve our economy, but it will take
some outside investors, just like a family owned business always has to
face at one time or another, such is the way of trade and markets.

A wise family only sells options, warrants, stocks and bonds, so as to not
lose equity and control.

Communication is the path to peace, connecting at this point is the only
sensible solution for us to communicate directly, globally, and learn
visually of the actions of the earth. Our History, and why we don’t want to
repeat what our forefathers learned the hard way.

Communication is the path to peace, connecting the rich and poor via
Angels helping the Business Incubators can stop any further degradation
of relations between the wealthy, that are just as worried, probably even
more than the poor. I know, I lived it. both sides.

The wealthy know they need to invest to help the economy. How they do
it, why they do it, and when they do it, are open questions.

The only way to settle this issue is to assure the investor of a return on
investment somehow, even if just via tax deductions, which with the new
increase in probability, would sell quick if done properly. Everyone needs
to make money with the available money, and we all need to improve our
ﬁnancial security, so a Angel Investment into National Interest Projects
would be Tax Deductible perhaps 2X... or? it is time for some creative to
close the order folks...

Wall Street will compromise.

Banks will compromise.

Government will compromise.

People will compromise.

the pig and take her to market... And we need FaceBook to broadcast it in
HDTV over the Internet, like in Africa with Doug Stanley. Livingston, I
presume?

Alternative to ETRE? is FaceBook Rock Series of Offshore... Fishing, et
al.

It will take a signiﬁcant infusion of capital to demonstrate improvement
which would uptick the American purchasing level...

Merge Incubators into a National Interest Project with a Tsar.

Develop eLearning in a consistent SDK like OSX APPS using
Frameworks.

Use America’s Universities to provide Grad Students to Incubators with on
the job training credit and the ability to connect the University
Developments into the world of newcos... the Universities do this now, but
need Incubator outlets, and the incubators need the talent for cheap or
nothing, the grad students get paid... and get credits.

The SuperComputer University connected at your local Entrepreneur
Incubator where we have a Nerds corner for the kids, to get them off the
streets, and video games that teach while playing, advanced courseware,
we need behavioral labs for user reactions and improvements to the
eLearning courseware materials.

A community needs a Entrepreneur Incubator to be the town hall on the
Internet at all times, just schedule some time or you can use your local
Home Theatre store if you have ones with Demo Rooms...and the Internet...

Entrepreneur Incubators need to be able to demo their project or newco
across the EDU Angel Network...

EDU then has the ability for International Investments, a Reality TV show or two,
and a chance to employ many, and would be the vehicle to educate those sitting on
their couches. The Internet is the Bookshelf.

If my family of visionaries mean anything it is the attempt to make things

I use what I know, and that is to increase the availability of the Internet to
all of America will only help, people will get jobs, and people will find
ways to improve their lives, it should be Free For the Unemployed, and
eLearning should be a mandatory component of the content available to
help them help themselves, they would need to learn how to learn, and use
the Internet as their book shelf.

High School Drop Out’s to MBA’s wanting to improve skills...

The Original Ray, I named him that because he must have been the first
one, no body messes with Ray, and he taught me that even without a high
school education, the Discovery Channel, Learning Channel, and the
History Channel allowed Ray to learn and understand ... and even try his
hand a being a philosopher... no one argued with him. And there was an
amazing gentle kid in him wanting what he missed growing up in a
difficult home. Ray is damn smart, he is one of many. Today, Ray would
love to Learn at the Speed of Sight sitting on his couch, and so would
many others, our elders never stop learning if you notice...

EDU would bring Fiber to the Home.

This would allow a next generation of eLearning and HDTV content on
Video on Demand of the History Channel and Discovery Channel video
libraries Hyper Indexed to Chapter and Frame of MetaTags, etc. or Time Codes,
etc. to locate load and position the video to the Associative Index of your
DNAid(tm). what and where you are currently using the Internet to learn
from and any reasonable videos, PDF’s specific to the context of your main
viewing.

This would provide in a eLearning Structured learning video game.

A video game as rich in 3D animation as Avatar in 4Kx4K HDTV which is
coming soon, the bandwidth for this doubling of resolution will require the
Internet to increase in speed. LSI Logic demoed their 4K capability using
some Lucas Star Wars content, it was mind blowing to see the incredible
detail possible, and imagine what a child would see if it were the earth,
flowers, trees, fish, rabbits and stuff, this demo was in a tent in a show in
Las Vegas 10 years ago... We don’t have the bandwidth to use it
everywhere, but with this ultra HDTV and some slick Playstation3 and
XBOX class animation helping the education process with access to HDTV

video libraries across the world... more info than needed, but visual
learning is what we have caused our kids to expect... Playstation and
XBOX and Wii...

and PC and MAC’s... now iPads and Androids...

Fiber to the Home is required to go to the next level, we are already stuck
with the Internet as the new communication vehicle, the cat is out of the
bag...

Which would give the user of the newspaper on the center screen videos
clips or more on the side screens, as the user progresses in any direction so
does the pathway fore and aft...

And we need to put people to work installing the Wideband...

EDU would need to locate and acquire a video game company. Video
Games have the proven profit track record, it is much easier to raise capital
for a company with 7 consecutive quarters of profit, and the infrastructure
to bill for usage in real time over the internet.

Game Companies and have Tax advantages, and have recurring cash flow
online products that evolve... Distribution channels in place, methods to
market, etc.

Video Game companies can develop using a cross compiler environment
(Multiplatform) for eLearning class games. Use some or all of their
libraries for animation of object movement with voice over, music THX is
desired, et al.

At home eLearning needs Learn by doing with a Digital Video Camera or
Digital Camera, or ? Learn by doing and having to do a Digital Book
Report.

the EDU Plan is a concept to engage American Industry, and Business
Incubators to create solutions to eLearning. And is the primary area of
interest since it can, using the Internet, produce immediate results for those
wanting to learn as rapidly as possible. Motivated learners... The missing
link has always been the Investment.

To accelerate the EDU Plan and the economy a very large infusion of
capital into a Central Revenue Stream, coming from the eLearning

“TITLES” to market. The billing system in place and the ability to work
with the many Game Developers under the EA blanket...

eLearning is a game. now it can generate cash... simple math to History

Learn at the Speed of Sight via 3D animation, videos, and textual
information and other related digital content, is the goal of the EDU
eLearning focus. Visual learning that can advance at the speed of the user
imteraction during the learning process, using Playstation and XBOX
design and engines to learn while playing a game. Same as succeed
proceed, fail retry...

From the simplicity of Khan Academy on YouTube for teaching complex
math, Business Stocks, etc. using the most simple whiteboard and colored pens,
awesome simplicity. Works.

To the output of the nations educational and University’s to the Business
Colleges that always ﬁnd a diamond in the rough from off the streets...

It seems to me we ﬁnd a lot of hungry Entrepreneurs outside of the formal
University environment.... Jobs, Gates, etc.

eLearning needs to have a large angle of view of courseware to determine
the most rapid learning techniques to become standardized Framework, of
a ISO International Standard Organization like ISO 9001 for education.

Equal footing Globally... extensive effort already underway on eLearning
in India...

Without a ISO standard for eLearning, no seamless architecture will
prevail.

Artificial, Inc.

I started (founded) Artificial, Inc. or Ai as a Florida corporation. With Chris and Jeanne
and Jeff and Moonie, coming to Marco often, we talked about what we should do, Jeff
was still with Sykes, Inc.

I wanted to follow the beginning of my effort at MAST, Inc. to work in the Artificial
Intelligence field that I knew was infant, which is why the company is named Ai. The
future of software development was going to be the web. The workstation market had
begun to implode due to too many vendors and dissimilar products, in 1994 the retail
computer stores were closing and mail order was the way, then in the middle of that
Nathan’s CompUSA a superstore by Nathan Morton, began to take off.

Back to 1997/98.

Nathan contacted me and brought his wife with him, they stayed in the Ritz Carlton. We
went for a boat ride on DREAMS from the Marco house, and Nathan asked me to invest
in StarPower and Home Theater retail chain that he was the Chairman of the Board. I
wired $250K on his assurance, then two days later wired another $250K to StarPower
to allow them to payoff a previous shareholder that had a UCC-1 on their inventory and
had them in check.

I didn’t receive the actual shares for several months later and questioned the valuation
but Nathan assured me that this was a fair deal... I found out later that Dr. Kolat paid
one half what I paid and got his certificate after mine?

Krystle and I went to Dallas for a Board meeting at StarPower several times and we
paid our own expenses due to the young age of StarPower... Jeff came to one later on
with us, and we elected him as the new President of Artificial, Inc. to try to turn it around,
since there had been no sales effort to date visible, just the guys complaining about
Chris, etc. Chris wanted a chance to run it but failed. Jeff tried but after finding his
MarinaRes Business Plan and PPT I decided to put Jamie in charge.

The entire funding was from Krystle and my bank account. Payroll, rent, software
(1000‘s) and hardware purchases, etc.

Chris brought in Daniel Delgato and Technical writer and genius, and I explained to him
what I wanted and how I saw it working and he took my disjointed writing and made it
beautiful, much input from Daniel and Chris... I had already given napkin designs to
Chris and Jammie and Joe early on.

Then the combination of my involvement on StarPower’s Board of Directors and my
interest in advanced computing workstations created the idea of my GHK AiLibrary.
also known as DLone, GHK AiDigital Library... plus I wanted to build a Home Theater,
within a Smart Home... and I did.

All the designs of the graphics generated by Artiﬁcial, Inc are from the blueprints of the
Marco Island GHK DIgital Home Theater, including the angled wall... due to the seawall
angle...

The intention was to create a photorealistic QTVR control system for my AiHome... and
sell it with a personal digital library. Our designs were 10 years ahead of the TECH.

But using iView and iMovie, etc. allowed me to build my Web based AiHome over the
Marco Intranet, using NT and Mac OSX Servers. Even had lights in the library working
from the Control Station on the right side of the two computer desk.

It was awkward a bit but it worked. Displaying on the (retail $100K) Ampro Alicia HDTV
with tripple DLP projector to the 120” Stewart screen. Which I thought was cool until I
went to the NAB show in Las Vegas and saw the 4K x 4K video from LSI Logic in a
private booth using Lucas StarWars at 4K! AWESOME is still just ahead of us...

The American ideal of helping our brightest and most promising
Entrepreneurs via the creation of Business Incubators, has not realized the
level of successes that were envisioned in the formation of said Incubators.
And in many major cites across the USA these Business Incubators are to
provide the necessary components needed to create new businesses
(Newco).

The nations Business Incubators would profit from a Sales Plan that can
utilize these Incubators in a National Sales program...

Sales folks, just simple sales, is the root of all investments, and follow thru
in the sale of new products.

Sales solved the problem of too many brands of PC’s.

The PC industry in Japan alone in the mid 90’s planned at least 4 four
inventory turns per year, that means that they planned to release new
models every four months... The plan was to overwhelm the US PC
industry and only Taiwan and Hong Kong matched them, of course Intel
and Dell and HP/Compaq were very close.

With the rapid growth of the PC industry, the expected reduction in the
number of brands and major manufacturers was inevitable. The PC’s were
being returned with “No Trouble Found” and could be seen stacked along
the corridors of the US large blue chip PC manufacture building hall ways.

Why? They didn’t have time to find out if they were OK, and the new model
was already coming down the assembly line, it was the era of the RMA
(Returned Merchandise Authorization). So many of these ended up at

Fry’s, CompUSA, etc. So the problem of selling the many brands of PC’s
was solved by Sales. QAPlus was credited in reducing (significantly) the
number of NTF RMA’s. If QAPlus passed (Gateway) you were referred to
education and VAR solutions.

So if Sales can solve the complex over supply of too many PC models and
brands, then why can’t it solve the Sales problem of the nations Business
Incubators?

What is needed? Funding of course!

A National Angel Fund with local distribution rights. The individual
Incubators need to learn how to help create new businesses, and they
need to experience the budgeting and funding process. The typical
success level of a new startup, is based on how old the startup is. Most will
fail in the first few years. So the older the startup, the more probable the
continued growth.

Funding Levels? Keep them small increments based on milestones.

The funding level is typically smaller than requested, the ability to continue
development is based on the ability to buy food, pay rent, and drive a car.

If you are looking for larger funding round, call a VC firm, you are probably
outside of the Incubator stage.

The purchase of Capital Equipment should be avoided if possible, beg,
borrow, barter, and talk the local Computer Store into being a
Entrepreneur Enabler Member. The local community will respond to the
Entrepreneur Enabler Stores, because they get to do DEMOS in the store
periodically from the Entrepreneur Incubator. This kind of PR is needed to
bring the idea into a stronger market position.

VARs and Entrepreneurs are the same.

Value Added Resellers VARs

In the days of the VAR’s Value Added Resellers, there were custom
solutions, the Data Base software company’s Condor, dBase II, and the
more sophisticated Relational Data Bases like Sybase, Oracle, etc. all
needed Data Base developers to create custom solutions, the Data Base
by itself was almost useless without the skills to use them. Today this is
true for Video Editing, and 3D Animation. Photoshop has proven however
that almost anyone can do professional Photographic work. iMovie,
Premier, and Final Cut Pro have almost reached that level for professional
Video Editing. Podcasts are becoming more sophisticated and the
evolution of eLearning courseware is awakening for the individual
professional.

Entrepreneurs perform best when hungry.

In times of economic duress, the ability of a person to sell his idea or
product or service is enhanced, they really have to sell it. The solution to
selling is to find a method that is unique and needed and serves a purpose
and often will need some Value Added Customization similar to a VAR. It is
called being a Entrepreneur.

eLearning as a APP.

With the large number of unemployed, and with many of them being what
we call advanced PC users, the possibility of scanning, indexing, and
reformatting digital content with the permission of the copyright owner,
eLearning courseware in Podcasts similar to the highly touted Khan
Academy on YouTube is one of the first to achieve attention to the
capability to teaching complex math in short to the point courses. The
simplest of simple eLearning courseware you will find on the internet.

So the proposition is to promote the Format and Structure of the a ISO
Standard for eLearning. Kind of like Legos...

The distribution and success of these Digital Components for eLearning will
be based on the user’s acceptance, and will be market driven.

The profit of these eLearning Components will probably be small on a per
user basis, but hugh on the vast number of potential students. So the ROI
would be based on a revenue sharing scheme.

ISO eLearning Standards

This plan predicts the establishment of a ISO eLearning Standard, and the
support of our High Tech Industry, which if it was a printer standard for
example, would find HP, Intel, Microsoft, etc. all at the table wanted to sway
the design in their interest.

So if necessary, you will find a quicker solution via the Open Source
Community...

With Open Source, a developer would assemble the various components
and then define a Format Structure, use some SDK’s and Frameworks and
glue together a shippable eLearning Course as a initial release, probably in
less than 4 months, with some promotion even get others to join in, should
be no problem with so many under employed developers... Who do you
think is doing the Open Source development today? About 10,000
wannabes and a couple of real developers doing most of the work.

What is the Artificial Technology Center?
The Artificial Technology Center is to be a new and unique research and
development laboratory. Its purpose is to advance and promote the
technology of high-speed Internet applications. The center will advance the
technology with an innovative research and development laboratory. It will
promote the technology by demonstrating and educating the public as to
the new possibilities offered by a high speed Internet

Why is it needed?
The Center is needed for one primary reason - to develop profitable
products for the Internet of tomorrow. All businessmen are aware of the
difficulties in developing new products. Developing products for the Internet
is even more challenging because no one knows how the Internet will grow
and what it will grow into. We do know that its amazing technological
advances have changed the rules of commerce, yet we do not yet know
what those rules have changed into. Because of this, developing creative
and profitable products is much more difficult on the Internet than in the
past.

The Center will be an environment designed to quickly produce new
products and technologies. It takes advantage of the fact that advances in
broadband technology will soon turn the Internet into a high bandwidth
network. These changes will open the door for a host of previously
impossible applications. The Center solves the problem of how to create
these different applications and it also determines if they will be profitable.
It does this by building an environment where an Internet user can use the
new applications in a meaningful and productive way, and where at the
same time, we can assess their usefulness and profitability. The Center’s
environment is called the AiDigital Library.
The AiDigital Library is conceived as integration, both physically and in
the abstract, of a library with the World Wide Web. The goal is have an
environment consisting of library and web, which fulfills the functions of
both in the most useful and human centered manner possible.
We are building a library because a library, seen as a physical container of
knowledge, has the same function as the Internet - today’s most successful
and powerful container of
Knowledge. The Internet has its enormity and timeliness of information,
hyperlinks, plus the well-honed excellence of the various search engines
The library, on the other hand, has the advantage of human comfort such
as windows, chairs, desks, and space. Both however have the same
function, which is to serve us humans in our ability to acquire, manipulate,
and create information.
As the Center’s main tool for product development, the AiDigital Library
will serve multiple roles as think tank, R&D facility, and technology
showcase. By building it we hope not only to demonstrate the advanced
capabilities offered by a high bandwidth Internet, but also to act as a
bootstrap and catalytic agent for the development of commercially
successful products.
The AiDigital Library will require innovative hardware and software I/O
devices and solutions. The library must make one’s physical environment a
powerful tool for accessing and manipulating the multitude of information
streams present on the Internet: such as HDTV video, surround sound,
hypertext search engines, and 3D data sets. Conversely, it must also allow
one to control the physical aspects of the library in such a way as to
facilitate one’s control of the Internet and it’s multimedia. Solving these
problems, and in general building the library, will hopefully result in the
profitable Internet application we need for commercial success.

What will the library consist of?
The AiDigital Library will have a variety of software and hardware
components. They are named the following:

The Library Query Engine
The Library Server
Advanced Concept Tools

The Physical Library
The Physical Library is an actual library. The present one is located in
Florida. The library is comfortable, well lit, spacious, with computer access
and a private collection of books, records, tapes etc. It also contains media
players such as a multimedia capable computer, a HDTV capable large
screen monitor, and a stereo system. Regardless as to how we construct
the AiDigital Library, we will make sure it remains comfortable, spacious
and well lit.
The AiDigital Library is not meant to be a replacement for a traditional
library, nor for the creation of a ‘super’ high tech system with lots of bells
and whistles. These may be laudable goals but they miss the point of the
AiDigital Library. The goal is to produce a melding of a library with its
Internet counterpart. To do so successfully, we must maintain those
qualities of a traditional library that makes it enjoyable and easy to use.
These include in no small part those that make it comfortable, spacious,
and well lit.

Today’s Business Incubators have a primary purpose of renting ofﬁce space, now I
know that many offer much more, but the difference in offering and making available is
the cost. And Entrepreneurs need advice and counsel more than they need a generic
course on being a Entrepreneur. The effort in Florida has networked many Incubators
and added a Virtual Entrepreneur Incubator, yet the local news could pay more attention
and dramatically improve the success of these incubators. A Entrepreneur Incubator
needs to be promoted. Like the movie “Field of Dreams” build it and they will come... is
true only if people know about it...

How about a Librarian greeter that says come on in kid if you have a idea and we will
discuss it with you and give you instant feedback, this can be done over the Internet.
The issue of Intellectual Property is important. Now add some Marketing and Sales
Review from the Internet and in few days, the idea will have some depth for the
Entrepreneur to decide if further effort is warranted. But before we get to this stage, the
Entrepreneur has to have been selected from a larger constant ﬂowing number of
entries.

expect our Entrepreneur’s to seek the Incubator out for a helping hand to build their
dream business.

The Maui Research & Technology Center was thus, we know, we lived and worked
there from 92-96, the folks that worked for the State of Hawaii were just like you and
me, they wanted in the worst way to make the MRTC a success. All were supportive,
but without any working capital even for themselves it was just cheap rent. There was
an advantage however, the MRTC was located next door to one of the most incredible
SuperComputers on the Planet, yep, next door there on Maui.

I don’t really understand what you do with a SuperComputer other than mathematical
analysis of the stars from the dishes on top of Haleakala the hugh dormant volcano.

The SuperComputer was connected to T3’s and that gave the MRTC Broadband from
the start and we had the ability to communicate via the internet to DiagSoft, Inc. so we
were doing business really simple - we were connected. I created ETSC in the most
creative place, Maui.

During this time Chris King my brother in law introduced me to Richard Mann and we
started Big Kahuna Productions. Richard knew Hollywood, and the art of video
production, and I wanted to do Interactive Videos similar to the IBM SNA interactive
LaserDisk Project that I worked on with with Saroj Kar in Sunnyvale at the beginning of
the LaserDisk (1979), a master cost over $50Kea. and was a throw away if wrong.

Document Storage and Retrieval and Advanced Office Automation Workstations were
my skill set.

I created CARMS Computer Assisted Records Management System using a Tandem
NonStop for Natural Language Query Retrieval of Documents stored on the Microform
Data Systems UltraStrip a strip of microfilm with a 300X reduction image size, also
spec’d a Microdata Reality System for the low end. We could retrieve any page in a
million pages in less than ten seconds. This was important for Power Plants that had
millions of pages of D drawings, to standard letter forms, since we microfilmed
documents of almost any size, we then microfilmed the microfilm taking the image from
the 35mm frame and microfilming that frame again another 10X which would result in
300X-600X reduction and full blowback. That is right, we microfilmed the microfilm in a
unit made by Microform Data Systems.

Today we would use a good scanner and the capture time would be small increments
compared to the manual microfilm process. And the Auto Indexing using OCR would
reduce the keying of Indexes like we did with the Microform systems. CARMS was my
attempt to move Microform Data Systems into a more hybrid Digital and Microfilm
database and evolve Microform Data from Micrographics into the Digital Age. Arnold
Silverman replaced my mentor Dean Mack the formed CEO.

CARMS is a frame/page/sector indexed sector of digital content or film content.
The next generation of CARMS is for today’s Mass Storage Facility that could fit into

your briefcase, the INDEX is based on Metatags, the more refinement of the Keys and
the Correlation of Stuff (rDBMS), Neural Network, etc. will improve the reduction of the
number of hits.

I often today think about the possibilities of CARMS which is meant to create a
Paperless Office...

SQL is todays DBMS architecture, and is complicated and difficult for non programmers
to use at the capability level that we had with the MSDOS CONDOR rDBMS in 1982.

The DomusRoom needs a simple DBMS, perhaps Bento?

workspace to grow their ideas, and help them from the Business Management and

Microform Data - Artelonics - GKE - Handle Tech -- addendum to GK Story.

I noticed an ad in the WSJ for a National Sales Manager for a Office Automation
Company in Silicon Valley, the ad was “blind” and I didn’t expect to get a response, but it
turned out the company was Artel, Inc. in Palo Alto and was funded by Shell Canada. I
got the job over a large number of candidates and Artel was developing the first Intel
8086 Office Automation Workstation with a 8’ floppy disk. Bob Stillman was developing
the Pascal OS and Word Processing, Graphics, software. The project was behind
schedule and as an alternative, I sought out CPM86 from Digital Research, and Basic86
from Microsoft. With one of the very first CPM86 installations, we suddenly found many
software companies wanting to port to our platform. The Artel OA Workstation was
hugh, had a full page screen with a secondary bitmap graphics video system that
allowed the graphics to overlay over the text screen underneath.

I did the demo to about 25 IBM’ers at the first Comdex Show, IBM wanted to know what
was Shell doing in the computer business. The booth was stunning, all white, a
awesome large island with a few demo stations, we got the 8” harddrive running at the
first night of the show, and that was the night I first heard the yell across Comdex, “The
Proto Works!”

I made a Artelonics (Artel name had to be changed due to a similar other company and
became Artelonics) workstation available to Don Harris and a few days later he called
and asked what is C:> ? The prompt, the rest of the screen was blank with CPM86.

I met Condor Computer the rDBMS MSDOS company from Ann Arbor, near the end of
Artelonics (I knew from someone in Shell that they were getting out of OA), and Condor
filled my trunk with boxes of Condor Software and told me to call when I had sold them,
and GKE Software was born out the the trunk of my car. During the next two years,
even though I as a single parent, I closed BusinessLand, MicroAge, and Don and I did
MicroD.

Don worked for himself much of the time, and often he would bring in a new employee
with out the authority and would set them down at GKE, I would walk by and say hi who
are you? Then Donald decided that he would go to LA if I would rent a Apt and find
more LA customers, on my first visit to LA, I go to the Apt, and Don has a Floppy Disk
store running out of the Apt and two other guys living there? There was a sign on the
wall that said “The Sandusky Group”. I asked what is this? He said that it was “our
company”... I closed the Apt. Over the years of working with Don, he has either quit or
been fired at least 5 times. While at DiagSoft he started a Quality Company ICQ and
guy I introduced him to, and with Andy Marken and Mel Brodie at the same time that I
was paying him...

GKE was selling more Condor than Condor, and we added Knowledgeman and Pearl,
plus SuperCalc, and I talked Skip Barkis into developing Transparent Data Systems
version of his Business Graphics package that could take sources from SuperCalc,

Condor, DBase II, and produce a Gantt Chart. In the end, I talked Condor into acquiring
TDS along with GKE along with their deal already in process for StarSoft Accounting,
but GKE lost out in the end.

I got a call from Lake Tahoe from an old friend asking me if I would like to go boating on
Lake Tahoe? I said of course, he said, how would you like to live and work here for
Handle Technologies in Tahoe City? I as there in a blink. A UNIX Office Automation
Suite from Handle had a OEM agreement with AT&T. Imagine several UNIX System V
AT&T 3B2’s, 3B5’s, Convergent Tech, and a Dec VAX in Tahoe City... Programmers
had flex hours. I became good friends with the CEO and did some consulting
afterwards.

Rocky the Flying Squirrel

Many many years ago I worked with a great software developer name Rocky the Flying
Squirrel. Rocky was always in the critical path of our projects, because he was the one
of the very best that we had, and out of about 50 programmers that is saying something.

Our deadline was on Monday in Conn. and Rocky tells me he has plans for the
weekend that he made over three months ago and can not possibly work this weekend.
I found out a few days later after the deadline that it was to change his oil in his car...

The work hours at Microform was intense because we built state of the art Mass Data
Base Storage and Retrieval Systems, and custom design multi million dollar systems
the nations Telcos, Banks, Government, Public Utilities.

Bell Telephone Directory Assistance

Somehow we got to Bell Telephone Directory Assistance site, and the Duplex Microdata
1600 64KB with our new DAS/CM that included small 9” CRTs that were Parallel wired
to a direct DMA transfer from the Microdata 1600 core banked minicomputer RAM to the
CRT. About 1 Million Baud!

The DAS/CM system that I designed, required a non serial solution because 9600 baud
was too slow, the CRT implementation required a “Polled Ack/Nak” Parallel connection,
as well as managing the software development, and the installation, (because the new
DAS/CM would not boot). DAS/CM could send over 128 different screens of the
Directory Assistance Addendum in less than a second to over a 128 MDS CRTs, of
changes to the page on the associated Microform Data Systems Ultrastrip Reader with
a cartridge of 50 MDS Ultrastrips containing the Local Telephone Books on microfilm, all

computer controlled by the Microdata with a manual switch over to a redundant
Microdata and each had a 10MB Hard disk. The DAS/CM is rack mounted and fills up a
normal equipment rack about 5’ tall. Well the new system was not working so I just
kicked the rack and the entire system came up online and worked for years... those
little 9” black and white CRT’s used to look like they did a little jump when the new
screen full of data was displayed, page forward was lightening fast.

The Microform DAS/CM MCP (Master Control Program) was written in Microdata
Assembly with machine language patches now and then, and one night after a long day,
Mel came in and turned off the Microdata that Rick Westman had been working with for
over 10 hours debugging. Mel said just before, hows your “Powerfail/Restart Rick?” It
was funny after all the hours we were there that night... and Mel knew Rick would not
go home as asked several times that night... Rick got a good nights sleep and fixed the
problem in the next morning and we shipped.

The MDS DAS/CM system for Directory Assistance was beginning to see a significant
amount of sales pressure from Computer Consoles, Inc. CCI DAS/C system.

Microform was successful in getting AT&T and the Bell operating companies to do a
TRIAL.

The MDS DAS/CM won the Trial. I then improved the design by repaginating the
Telephone book into smaller entries per page by greater use of page breaks and the
usage of additional Ultrastrips was a no cost impact. I named this version DAS/CM-AM
for Directory Assistance System/Computer Microfilm - Advanced Mechanization.

The system held off the oncoming loss of sales for several more years as a result of
DAS/CM-AM against DAS/C.

I then designed Microform’s System/C, participated in the Technology Analysis and
Selection of the Tandem NonStop Minicomputer to replace the Microdata and move
MDS into the Digital Age, and the sale to Hawaiian Telephone in Honolulu. I was also
participating in Office Automation Conferences and spoke as a OA Workstation
Expert. During this time I also designed the Telephone Paperless Business Office
PBOS later renamed REAL by F. Berko.

The design for System/C included the need to develop a printed circuit Parallel Display
Controller similar to what we had in the Microdata DAS/CM. But I was promoted and
did not have any involvement in the development of System/C.

I was transferred into a new career path by Dean Mack, I was the new Director of
Advanced Systems for Microform Data Systems, with Dr. Jerry Tennant, Tom
O’Toole, Jack Ver Hulst, all Geniuses, and a few others.

I designed the CARMS Computer Assisted Records Management System using a
Tandem NonStop and Microdata Reality as the first general purpose MDS Hybrid
Microfilm/Digital system for Massive Document Storage and Retrieval.

I had over 10 years experience in Data Center Mainframes and was a qualified IBM
DOS/VS Systems Programmer, and working with the Microdata 1600 was like coding in
Machine Language. Several years later, I took the first Dick Pick OS course on the
MIcrodata Reality, this was my introduction into the fact that you could use a Microdata
for more complex applications, like the design of the Pick OS Virtual Machine. We
ended up using it in the Medical Division that Microform acquired. The cool thing about
Dick Pick was the stories of his condo or apartment building in Big Bear where the
programmers got to live and code...

I worked on the PSE&G Power Plant sale of CARMS and was instrumental in the close
of the sale.

The promotion as the Director of Advanced Systems for Microform and the
subsequent promotion as the National Sales Manager for Microform Data Systems
was the greatest transition from my credentials as the guy that knows everything about
computers too he is now a SALESMAN. And my Sr. Sales guys are like from Xerox and
knew how to get the job done they just needed more technical strength in the sales
cycle and I was the guy. And I had Berko as my boss for awhile which was inspirational
because he never stops until he succeeds, doing VuGraphs all night by adding the color
film, Hugh artists renditions for Frank in a Architect large case, that when you run down
the airport to catch a airplane you step on the large case and do several summersaults
down the floor, that is what Jim did one time... Microform Data Systems was a blast to
work for, and Dean Mack was my Mentor.

And my new National Sales organization with sales offices all over the USA, including
New York, Chicago, DC, SF, Santa Monica, etc. And Trumbull, Allen, Harrison
(Government/NSA), etc. fun sales superstars to try to keep up with. It was the fast path
to learning what a National Sales Manager is supposed to do. Dexter was from Texas
and had the greatest Xerox sales lines, like do not confuse booking with shipping...
cause you’ll never get to the ship part...

This transition caused me to go from my belief that I was always introverted into a very
outgoing and natural salesman, at least that is what Dean told someone, “Kraft is a
Natural Salesman, people trust what he says, and if he doesn't believe it, he won’t say
it...”

Dean was replaced by Arnold Silverman, a brilliant financial wiz, and Seldon Lazaro was
brought in as my new VP Marketing. I really liked working for Sel, he was a awesome
mentor and used to tell me, “Gordon, when you can turn a negative into a positive”, you
will be a great man. But the company was changing and I had been there almost 10

years and wanted a change, so I applied to a blind ad in the Wall Street Journal for a
National Sales Manager for a Office Automation company.

Brilliant Flash 2000
It was a time like now, the air was moist from the Hurricane that had brushed Florida,
and a Tropical Storm was growing south of Cuba. The Doc had come down to visit and
help me with the Library. Then a strong thunderstorm opened up, so I placed the Sony
Hi8 Camcorder on the table outside of the master bedroom sliding door that opened into
the enclosed pool area. And just let it run capturing the lightening and thunder and the
heavy rain. I thought a lot about creating a new product for Personal Digital Libraries
due to my background in Document Storage and Retrieval. Artificial Intelligence, PC
Manufacturing and Test, QA, and since I grew up with the PC industry from the
beginning, I knew that a product should have no boundaries, and no limits on its target
market, since it was expected to continually evolve...

A place to work is needed, and a place to demo the integration of advanced Internet
Technologies that would reduce the “what is it again?” questions.

What is the Artificial Technology Center

The Artificial Technology Center (ATC) is to be a new and unique research and
development laboratory. Its purpose is to advance and promote the technology of high-
speed (Broadband) Internet applications. The center will advance the technology with
an innovative research and development series of projects. It will promote the
technology by demonstrating and educating the public as to the new possibilities offered
by a broadband Internet (Bi). The ATC will use a constant flow of the latest PC and
Audio/Video equipment and systems. The ATC will be built inside of a normal Executive
Office Building with the construction of a partial house (approximately 1200sqft.) with
easy to visualize Smart House wiring and the ability to use the ATC house called a
AiHome™ as a retail store, a live development lab, and a classroom.

Why is it needed?

The Center is needed for one primary reason - to develop profitable systems for the
Internet of tomorrow. All businessmen are aware of the difficulties in developing new
products. Developing products for the Internet is even more challenging because no

one knows how the Internet will grow and what it will grow into. We do know that its
amazing technological advances have changed the rules of commerce, yet we do not
yet know what those rules have changed into. Because of this, developing creative and
profitable products is much more difficult on the Internet than in the past.
The Center will be an environment designed to quickly produce new products and
technologies. It takes advantage of the fact that advances in broadband technology will
soon turn the Internet into a high bandwidth network to the home. These changes will
open the door for a host of previously impossible applications. The Center solves the
problem of how to create these different applications and it also determines if they will
be profitable. It does this by building an environment where an Internet user can use the
new applications in a meaningful and productive way, and where at the same time, we
can assess their usefulness and profitability. The ATC’s environment is available online
via the Bi and is called the AiDigital Library™.

What is the AiDigital Library?

The AiDigital Library is conceived as integration, both physically and in the abstract, of a
library with the World Wide Web as it’s bookshelf. The goal is have an environment
consisting of library and web, which fulfills the functions of both in the most useful and
human centered manner possible.
We are building a library because a library, seen as a physical container of knowledge,
has the same function as the Internet - today’s most successful and powerful container
of Knowledge. The Internet has its enormity and timeliness of information, hyperlinks,
plus the well-honed excellence of the various search engines The library, on the other
hand, has the advantage of human comfort such as windows, chairs, desks, and space.
Both however have the same function, which is to serve us humans in our ability to
acquire, manipulate, and create information.

As the Center’s main tool for product development, the AiDigital Library will serve
multiple roles as think tank, R&D facility, and technology showcase. By building it we
hope not only to demonstrate the advanced capabilities offered by a high bandwidth
Internet, but also to act as a bootstrap and catalytic agent for the development of
commercially successful products.
The AiDigital Library will require innovative hardware and software I/O devices and
solutions. The library must make one’s physical environment a powerful tool for
accessing and manipulating the multitude of information streams present on the
Internet: such as HDTV video, surround sound, hypertext search engines, and 3D visual
data sets. Conversely, it must also allow one to control the physical aspects of the
library in such a way as to facilitate one’s control of the Internet and it’s multimedia.
Solving these problems, and in general building the library, will result in the proﬁtable
Internet application’s needed for commercial success.

Overview

The Artiﬁcial, Inc. “AiDigital Library” is a ongoing research and development project
aimed at providing the user a multimedia digital library of all of their documents, photos,
and home/corporate videos, as well as the using the internet as our Global Infobase.

How it’s done

The computer selected is a SONY VAIO computer system with a Pentium IV, DVD, DV
Firewire interface, Macintosh G4 DVDr system, VideoConference Camera, Color printer,
Sony LCD ﬂat panel screen, and a Digital Camera. The human interface is a local web
site using our AI 3D-library QTVR look and feel; the user can operate everything in the
room. From the rack of the Home Theater equipment in the AI 3D library, the user can
access the any of the equipment using a connection to the AV control system, as well as
cruise the internet, or retrieve and show documents, movies, and images. The Control
PC is connected to the home Cat 5 network or wireless network and to the Internet via a
Broadband T1/DSL or faster. The performance of the resulting AiHome must have the
ability to transmit and receive full motion video in a minimum of MPEG4 format to a
maximum of HDTV format.

The use of various high capacity storage or Mass Storage Devices will be required to
store and retrieve the massive amounts of digital information.

My idea is “To create Entrepreneur Incubator ofﬁce’s around the world.”

The concept that I came up with is called the “Domus Room” a concept that was
suggested by my brother in law, Chris King many years (25) ago when he owned a
struggling shipping crate company, about as low tech of a company that you could think
of. Chris asked me simply “why is it so hard to run a company?” And, “Why can’t you
just go to a company and give them your business details and a computer tell you what
to do?”

Well, with the world under duress, maybe just maybe Chris’s question could help solve
the issues we ALL face...

Korea and other countries, we heard that Japans NTT was running fiber to the home at
an ATRE conference in Kyoto, Japan in the mid 90’s... The bigger the pipe the faster

This idea will cause us to build apps that far exceed our current abilities due to the fact
that “speed changes you” when we wait we frustrate. Look at the Playstation video
graphic speed and how it captures your kids attention... imagine the fact that HTML5
can do 3D Animation at a frame rate that parallels the Playstation in complex graphical

When I owned DiagSoft, Intel became our new OEM because of the QAPlus we had
been bundling on the Micronics 386 motherboard. Intel needed a instant diagnostics
solution for their new major OEM: AT&T. Told to just change the screens and ship it,
AT&T corrected me and told me that what AT&T wants AT&T gets. This screen change
became a total new productline based on QAPlus and Alan Marconnet reverse polish
windows, his ideas of how we could save $99. DiagSoft did ALL of Intel’s Diagnostics

for their OEM’s. DiagSoft expanded globally overnight. Even though I had been to
Taiwan and Hong Kong a few times before. Mel Brodie and I setup Kevin May (RIP) a
friend form my Award Software days, and a world class Taiwan Software Development
company as our Taiwan partner. I held a 3 day DiagSoft Executive Planning
Conference at the Carmel Valley Resort. The video is incredible... ;) Charles Barkis
asking if someone could give him a hint when we started to play golf at the last day after
our meetings were done... I told him to hit it that way towards the fairway...
