2. Flutes must learn all three B flat fingerings and practice using
them. You will need to go through the music you are
practicing and decide which one is most appropriate.
Learning to use these fingerings seems difficult at first, but like
anything else we learn, the more we practice it, the easier it
will become!
3. One and One B Flat (1+1)
This is probably what you learned as a beginner. This fingering
is best used for any chromatic scale or when B flat and B
natural occur side by side. This fingering should almost always
be used when the key signature does not have any flats.
4. Thumb B Flat (Thb)
Use this fingering when the key signature has one or more
flats, except G flat and C flat Major. Do not use this fingering
in key signatures with no flats or for the chromatic scale. And
a BIG no-no -- do not slide your thumb from B flat to B
natural.
5. Lever B Flat (L)
This fingering should be used for the chromatic scale and B
Major scale. It is almost always the best choice for A sharp,
and is great for A flat - B flat - B natural passages.
6. Lever B Flat (L)
This fingering should be used for the chromatic scale and B
Major scale. It is almost always the best choice for A sharp,
and is great for A flat - B flat - B natural passages.
