The St. Francis Center was founded in 1972 in Los Angeles by Father Hugh Noonan, Helen Payne, and Juanita Vaughn to provide relief for the homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families. It is known for its soup kitchen and food pantry. The Center's programs include Family Well-Being, Homeless Well-Being, Youth Empowered For Success, and Community Resources. It relies on donations, volunteers, and fundraising events like Top Tamale, Giving Back to School, and partnerships with Ralphs, Food For Less, and Target to achieve its mission of providing services to sustain and empower those in need by building blocks of joy, dignity, and compassion in the community.
