SEED, the Centre for Entrepreneurship at MDI Gurgaon is holding a training session and
workshop on ‘Raising Money for Your New Venture.’
Target Audience
The target audience is first generation, first time and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Program Leader
The session is being conducted by Mr. Ranjit Shastri who is a well known investor, and
entrepreneur, and member of the Indian Angel Network.
Agenda and Content
The timing of the program is from 10 AM to 5 PM on February 12th, 2011. Lunch is available
at the MDI Mess at a subsidized fee.
10 AM – 1PM: Ranjit will provide inputs on the Funding Landscape, What Investors Look For,
and Negotiating the Deal.
2PM – 5 PM: One-on- one sessions with 5 entrepreneurs (the selection of the entrepreneurs will
be on the basis of a business plan that they submit to girsaran@gmail.com by Feb 10th)

Bio of Mr. Ranjit Shastri
Ranjit Shastri is one of India's leading investment advisors, and has over
twenty years of experience as a management consultant, entrepreneur
and investor. Mr. Shastri served as the Executive Director of the Indian
Venture Capital Association from March 2008 to April 2009, and
continues to play an active role within the organization. He is also a
member of the Indian Angel Network, India’s oldest and largest network
of angel investors.
Mr. Shastri is a co-founder of and major investor in two IT-enabled service companies:
SmartAnalyst Inc., a venture-backed decision support firm serving major life science companies;
and Design Presentation Associates Inc., a provider of CAD drafting services for the global
architectural, engineering and construction industry. In addition, he served for several years as a
member of the Board of Vickers Systems India Ltd. in Pune, an engineering and automotive
subsidiary of Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN). He currently serves on the boards of Stelae
Technologies S.A., SmartAnalyst, Inc., and Design Presentation Associates Inc.
Mr. Shastri has written a monthly column for two of India’s leading business magazines,
Business Today and Business World, and regularly serves as visiting faculty at the Management
Development Institute, one of India’s top business schools. He also conducts training programs,
including those organized by the European Venture Capital Association and the Indian Venture
Capital Association.
Mr. Shastri was also a co-founder of PSi, a focused venture advisory firm. PSi’s main focus has
been on identifying opportunities for foreign investors, including venture capital firms, private
equity firms and strategic investors. Prior to co-founding PSi, Mr. Shastri was a management
consultant, first at Bain & Co. in Boston, then McKinsey & Company in New York, where he
focused primarily on serving major financial institutions, including asset management
companies, investment banks and insurance companies.
Mr. Shastri earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School, and a B.Sc. in applied
mathematics from Yale University. He continues to work closely with Yale in expanding its
engagement with India through initiatives such as the Bulldogs in India internship program.
