2. • What did you notice as you walked around?
• Felt like I was being quite heavy footed, noticed the sounds of cars a
lot more, but felt like they were at lot closer than they were. Noticed
changes in pavement surface a lot e.g. could feel the curb.
• Can you work out where you are?
• No, got it wrong all the time, but Ben did take me onto the running
track!
• Which senses do you pay more attention to?
• Touch – using how surfaces felt under my feet to steady myself and
hearing, but this wasn’t very accurate to place things, didn’t really
notice any smells.
• Do you feel helpless?
• Not totally helpless as I knew I could just stop walking if I wanted to,
but did feel very dependent on partner.
• How do you feel about your partner?
• Felt like I had to put a lot of trust in Ben, had to rely on his judgement
a lot – he made me fall down a curb
• What is the balance of power?
• A lot more power with the partner however you can always refuse to
do something or take blindfold off if I was uncomfortable
3. • What did you notice as you walked around?
• I noticed the noises of cars, pedestrians and cyclists. I thought that
they might hit me. I also noticed smells.
• Can you work out where you are?
• I was able to work out we where on the bike track next to mechanical
engineering because we didn’t walk down the set by the learning
centre. And I noticed we where at Go Central from the smell of the
food.
• Which senses do you pay more attention to?
• I paid more attention to my feet I was heavy footed, feeling the
terrain.
• Do you feel helpless?
• I did when a girl barged into me and these guys threatened to throw
me on the floor. Felt like other people might walk into me after that.
• How do you feel about your partner?
• I felt very dependant on her and her guidance. I felt more unsure
after the girl hit me. I mainly felt quite relaxed about walking round
with her.
• What is the balance of power?
• Leonie was in control of where I was going.
