1. School Closing Protocol
In case of inclement weather, the following procedure will
be followed by Lindbergh Schools:
If weather conditions so indicate, First Student Transportation will begin as early as
possible contacting the directors of transportation of neighboring school districts to
ascertain if they intend to recommend taking a snow day or operating as usual.
Representatives from First Student will also test drive a number of bus routes between
3:00 and 5:00 a.m. to determine if the road conditions are hazardous enough to
warrant the closing of school.
If there are questions concerning the advisability of operating school, First Student will
call the superintendent and discuss the road conditions.
The Superintendent may decide, based on First Student’s report, to test drive some of
the bus routes himself. If the roads appear hazardous enough to close school, the
Superintendent makes the decision.
The district will then contact television stations KTVI Channel 2, KSDK Channel 5,
KMOV Channel 4. Closings are also posted on the District website, Facebook and
Twitter.
If weather conditions become hazardous after school is already in session for the
day, then one of the following procedures may be initiated:
If afternoon kindergarten is canceled, the district will notify the television stations, the
District website, Facebook and Twitter; and the elementary school principals notify
the parents of the kindergarten children.
Early dismissal of secondary school students is sometimes initiated which will ensure
that elementary buses leave their respective buildings at approximately the same
time as under normal weather conditions.
