The Marina Barrage is a dam built across the Marina Channel in Singapore that creates the country's 15th reservoir and first reservoir located in an urban area. The Marina Reservoir increases Singapore's water catchment area to two-thirds of the country's land area by combining with two other new reservoirs. The Marina Barrage was the result of a vision by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to dam the mouth of the Marina Channel and create a freshwater reservoir to augment Singapore's water supply for generations to come.
