Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

5 Public speaking tips from TED - Visualized summarySpeakerHub
From their humble beginnings in 1984, TED has grown into the world’s most powerful amplifier for speakers and thought-leaders to share their ideas. They have over 2,400 filmed talks (not including the 30,000+ TEDx videos) freely available online, and have hosted over 17,500 events around the world.
With over one billion views in a year, it’s no wonder that so many speakers are looking to TED for ideas on how to share their message more effectively.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

3. GLAVNI CILJ PROJEKTA JE BIL:
• zmanjšati porabo električne energije.
Želeli smo ugotoviti, koliko električne energije lahko
privarčujemo, že z enostavnimi ukrepi kot so
ugašanje svetilk, ko le te niso več potrebne
(prostori niso zasedeni ali je dovolj naravne
svetlobe) in z ugašanjem električnih naprav.

so bile naslednje:
•Izvedli anketi: o varčevanju z energijo in o bivalnem
ugodju,
•izvedli energijski pregled šole – poraba električne
energije,
•izmerili smo učilnice,
•narisali tlorise učilnic v Pro/engineer – ju in AutoCad-
u,
•izmerili osvetljenost na 1m2 v učilnicah, v višini
delovnih površin in brez prisotnosti dnevne svetlobe,
•izmerili smo osvetljenost na delovni površini z
luxmetrom v oblačnem vremenu pri naravni in mešani
svetlobi,
5. • izmerili osvetljenost delovnih površin, če so prižgane
samo določene svetilke,
• vrednotili meritve s standardom za notranja delovna
mesta (EN 12464-1),
• zapisali ugotovitve,

laboratoriju kemije in slab zrak v strojni delavnici.
19. Ker med največje porabnike
električne energije na šolah spada
razsvetljava, smo se odločili najprej
ugotoviti osvetljenost učilnic na
Gimnaziji Jurija Vege in na Poklicni
šoli.
20. Razsvetljava na šoli
Vse svetilke so nameščene na stropu in sicer 380 cm od tal. Svetilke
so dimenzije 60 x 60 cm, tipa Demi - intra lighting s paraboličnim
rastrom. V vsaki svetilki so štiri fluorescenčne sijalke moči 14 W.
Table so osvetljene z dvema asimetričnima svetilkama dolžine 120 cm
in v vsaki je ena fluorescenčna sijalka moči 54 W.

21. Potek dela - tlorisi
•Najprej smo izmerili vse učilnice. Izmerili smo 14 učilnic.
• Nato smo narisali tlorise učilnic s programom Pro/ENGINEER in
AutoCAD. Program Pro/ENGINEER je vrhunsko programsko
orodje za moduliranje in omogoča dvodimenzionalno in
tridimenzionalno konstruiranje. Pri izdelavi tlorisov smo uporabili
dvodimenzionalno konstruiranje. AutoCAD pa je programski
paket za tehniško risanje in omogoča dvodimenzionalno
konstruiranje. Oba programa dijaki uporabljajo pri pouku za
konstruiranje izdelkov in izdelavo delavniških risb.
•Na vseh slikah s tlorisi učilnic smo razporeditev svetilk v
učilnicah narisali z rumenimi pravokotniki.
22. KORAKI ZA DOSEGO CILJEV
02.04.15URE 22
• Osvetljenost smo merili
z luxmetrom. Uporabili smo
VOLTCRAFTOV merilnik
osvetljenosti ali LUXMETER
(VOLTCRAFT MS-1500).
tloris učilnice
23. Meritve
•Nato smo izmerili osvetljenost v učilnicah v višini
delovnih površin.
•Izvedli smo več vrst meritev in sicer:
•brez prisotnosti dnevne svetlobe – po navodilu
PHILIPS,
•ob prisotnosti dnevne svetlobe v oblačnem
vremenu,
•ob prisotnosti dnevne in umetne svetlobe
(mešane svetlobe) v oblačnem vremenu.
24. Meritve PHILIPS
kartona izdelali devet kvadratov s stranicami 1 m in jih
nato polagali po učilnici.
• Osvetljenost smo merili v višini delovnih površin in sicer
osvetljenosti in o osvetljenosti table.
25. Meritve pri naravni in mešani svetlobi
•Opravili smo tudi meritve osvetljenosti v oblačnem
vremenu pri naravni in mešani svetlobi.
•V vseh učilnicah smo merili osvetljenost na vsaki delovni
površini in jih nato združili v tri skupine in sicer v
osvetljenost pri oknu, osvetljenost na sredini in
osvetljenost pri steni.
• Merili smo tudi osvetljenost tabel v vsaki učilnici. Vse
te podatke smo zapisali v tabele.
26. GLEDE NA ZAHTEVE, KI JIH DEFINIRA
EVROPSKI STANDARD ZA NOTRANJA DELOVNA
MESTA (EN 12464-1) SMO ZAPISALI
UGOTOVITVE ZA VSAKO UČILNICO.

Definirani so naslednji parametri razsvetljave:
povprečna osvetljenost v učilnici: 300 lx
povprečna osvetljenost računalniških učilnici: 500 lx
povprečna osvetljenost učilnic za praktični pouk: 500 lx
povprečna osvetljenost hodnika: 100 lx
povprečna osvetljenost na tabli: 500 lx
povprečna moč vgrajenih svetilk na enoto uporabne
površine in za izobraževalne ustanove znaša 13W/m2.
kvadratni meter.
• Prav tako je predpisana tudi povprečna moč
vgrajenih svetilk na enoto uporabne
površine, ki za izobraževalne ustanove
znaša 13W/m2.
• Za vsako učilnico posebej smo nato zapisali
ugotovitve in predlagali ukrepe.
• Predstavili bomo samo učilnico FIZIKE, to
je eno od štirinajstih – ostale so v
wordovem dokumentu.

MERITVE ZA UČILNICO FIZIKE
• V učilnici je dvanajst svetilk, ki so
razporejene v štiri vrste po tri.
Svetilke so nameščene na stropu 380
cm od tal in so na sliki označene z
rumenimi pravokotniki.
• V vsaki svetilki so štiri 14 W
fluorescenčne sijalke dolžine 55 cm.
• Nad tablo so 40 cm s stropa spuščene
dve svetilki dolžine 120 cm, v katerih
sta dve 54 W fluorescenčni sijalki.
• Poraba el. energije na dan:
• 12x4x14Wx6h = 4032 Wh
• 2x1x54Wx6h = 648 Wh
• Moč svetilk na m2:
780W/67,21m2 = 12W/m2
29.
30. Ugotovitve in predlagani ukrepi za učilnico
FIZIKE
Ugotovitve:
•Povprečna osvetljenost v učilnici, ko smo merili v temi je 970
luksov. Pri mešani svetlobi pa je povprečna osvetljenost 1065
luksov. Osvetlitev je v obeh primerih veliko presežena (670 in
765 luksov) glede na zahteve 300 luksov. Osvetljenost table je za
346 luksov nad predpisano vrednostjo.
359 luksov nad predpisano vrednostjo 500
luksov.
nepotrebnem gorijo svetilke.
Veliko potrato energije predstavljajo tudi
hodniki, sanitarije in garderoba, saj mnogokrat
po nepotrebnem gorijo svetilke.
32. SKUPNI UKREPI
funkcije programa in razvijajo kreativnost.
• Izdelali smo preko štirideset nalepk.
Predstavljamo samo nekatere.
35. SKUPNI UKREPI
Kratkoročni ukrepi:
• Seznanili smo dijake in zaposlene s projektom,
• spremljali smo porabljeno energijo,
• vestno smo ugašali svetilke,
URE 3502.04.15
36. • Za za vsako učilnico, to pomeni za 14,
izmerili osvetljenost delovnih površin, če so
prižgane samo določene vrste svetilk.
• Za vsako učilnico smo določili kombinacijo vrst
svetilk, pri katerih je osvetljenost učilnice še
vedno ustrezna.
38. •Glede na izbrano kombinacijo
smo nato na stikala namestili
rdeče in zelene nalepke.
Dogovorili smo se, da se
prižigajo samo stikala, ki so
označena z zeleno.
39. DOLGOROČNI UKREPI:
• Namestitev stopniščnega avtomata na hodnike,
garderobe in sanitarije.
02.04.15URE 39
42. MOŽNI PRIHRANKI PRI DOLGOROČNIH
INVESTICIJSKIH UKREPIH IN OCENA
INVESTICIJE
Z vgraditvijo regulatorjev osvetljenosti v učilnico
fizike bi investicija znašala 1798,50 evrov. Letni
energije.
Montaža stopniščnih avtomatov na hodnike, v
garderobe in sanitarije bi pomenila prihranek 2557
kWh električne energije v enem letu. Ocena
investicije brez DDV-ja je 2227 evrov.
02.04.15URE 42
43. REZULTATI - PRIHRANKI
ELEKTRIČNE ENERGIJE
• Pri računanju prihranka porabe električne energije smo primerjali
porabo električne energije za šolsko leto september 2013 do
februar 2014 in šolsko leto september 2014 do februar 2015.
44. Ugotovitve
septembra do februarja prihranili 4,21 % električne energije.
45. • Dijaki so s projektom Učinkovite rabe energije
(URE) dobili povsem drugačen pogled na varčevanje
z energijo.
• Dijaki so spremenili svoje navade in jih uspešno
prenesli v svoje domove.
naravne svetlobe) in ugašanjem naprav.
ugasnilo luči in računalnik, ko zapustijo sobo. Po
projektu pa je to storilo že 64,3% dijakov.
47. IZRAČUN ENERGIJSKEGA ŠTEVILA
02.04.15URE 47
26002 litrov kurilnega olja je enako 260020 kWh
energije.
Skupna poraba energije: (167812 + 260020) kWh
= 427832 kWh.
Ogrevana površina: 3678 m2.
E = skupna poraba energije/ ogrevana površina =
427832kWh/ 3678m2 = 116 kWh/m2leto
Če gornjo vrednost preračunamo v porabo
kurilnega olja, dobimo 11,6 litra/m2leto.
Po izračunu energijskega števila, ki znaša 116
kWh/m2leto smo ugotovili, da spada stavba
gimnazije pod energijsko varčne stavbe.
