The settler came to Texas from another place seeking better farmland and water to support his farm. He arrived in Texas via a ship called the Lively and was granted 1,860 acres of land. The first few years brought harsh winters but increasing profits, going from $925.67 to $1,501.34 to $3,026. He eventually moved his family to the town of San Felipe, Texas where he continued farming although with less land. He was successful and wanted to remain in Texas due to the good farmland, water, and scenery.

2. My Journey
• I came to Texas because, I needed better
crops, and more water so I can support my
farm.
• I came on the Lively ship, that was a okay ride
but long.

3. My Arrival
• I ended up with 1,860 acres to rome around
and to work with.
• I hope that this will be a good move, to come
to Texas.

5. • I'm glad I got there a little late because the
winter was harsh.
• I ended up with $925.67 to spend on the
family and I.

6. 1823
• I headed up to town to visit the lock smith, he
told me that the Lively sank.
• The Mexicans made It hard to export cotton to
the markets, they added tax money to it.

7. 1823
• It was a mild winter, so the cattle had a pretty
good year.
• Lumber was okay some stuff got built but not
a lot.
• I ended up with more then last year, I got
$1,501.34 to spend.

8. 1824
• The Mexicans were being friendly finally, we
sold them some cotton.
• We had lot more lumber coming in, so more
stuff was built.
• The cattle had a great year, lots of meat being
produced.

9. 1824
• My family and I are deciding to move or not,
but we don’t know.
• I ended up with $3,026 I had a really good
year, there for a couple weeks I thought I
wasn't going to make it.

10. My Town
• I ended up in San Felipe Texas.
• Its nice there but I don’t have as much land.
• I hope this next year will be great.

11. My Conclusion
• I was pretty successful, I ended up with
$3,026.
• I live in San Felipe with my family and farm.
• I want to stay cause its pretty, perfect dirt, and
lots of water.
