NONPOINT

It’s been a while since I got a chance to listen to Nonpoint so as soon as this acoustic EP
hit my email, I was more than stoked to press play. Nonpoint has always been one of
those bands that continually deliver high quality metal music over the years and this
acoustic EP is a nice change and no doubt will be an instant classic. Taking out five of
their best songs from their catalog and turning them into acoustic gems, Nonpoint
cleverly and successfully re-invigorates each song with a passionate feel on <em>Cut
The Cord</em>. Nonpoint does such a great job that the songs almost sound like they’re
new songs rather than songs from days past. Thanks to the band’s musical versatility, The
EP is not only a great insight to another side of this band but also represents the virility of
Nonpoint’s music after all of these years. You see I’ve kept tabs on this band over the
years and didn’t have any doubt in my mind that they would be getting the critical praise
and acknowledgement from fans and bands alike. The EP has a strong presence in that
it’s seems pleasantly raw, the vocals especially. The raw part of this EP is what makes it
so special. They truly captured something magical on this EP. The tracks included on this
acoustic EP are “What A Day,” “Circles,” “Rabia,” “Victim,” and “Your Signs.” If I had
to choose which one stood out the most, it would have to be “What A Day.” They hit that
one right on the forehead! But don’t get me wrong, “Your Signs” will always be my
favorite Nonpoint song, hands down. Before I forget as well, this release will only be
available as a digital download so although it might alienate some fans, I’m here to tell
you now that it’s worth the time to download, even if you’re a die-hard physical CD type
of person. Needless to say, the EP kicks ass in a major way. Nonpoint’s consistency and
determination to spread the word about their music has never faded and 2010 seems to be
the year that they might gain the most praise as their as yet to be titled full-length will be
released with Greg Tribett and Chad Gray of Mudvayne at the producers helm. Until
then, <em>Cut The Cord</em> should be more than enough to hold fans over. If this EP
is a sign of what’s to come, then the full-length will only further cement the legacy of
