2. Alamo Square
It is a residencial neighborhood famous for the row
of Victorian houses – called the Painted Ladies –
and the great view of the city skyline.
3. Alcatraz Island
Located about 1.5 mile off the shore, the island
used to be a Federal Prison (1933-1963). The most
notorious prisoner was Al Capone, the gangster.
5. Fisherman’s Wharf
One of the busiest tourist attractions in San Francisco, this
neighborhood is famous for the restaurants and stalls that
serve seafood, especially crab and clam chowder.
6. Pier 39
• Located at the edge of Fisherman’s Wharf ,this is a shopping area with several
stores, restaurants, street performers, 3D rides and na aquarium. Visitors also
enjoy watching the hundreds os sea lions on the docks.
7. Lombard Street
• Known as the crookedest street in the world, the winding part
actually refers to a very steep 400-meter section. It has eight
sharp turns and cars can only go down the road.
8. Transamerica Pyramid
• Originally the headquarters of
Transamerica Corporation, it is
the tallest skyscrapper in the
city at 260 meters, but visitors
cannot go to the top for a
panoramic view of the city.
