This document outlines 5 types of accidents that can occur during dental procedures: 1) Needle fracture caused by patient movement, improper technique, or manufacturing defects. The provider should remain calm and inform the patient. 2) Damage to surrounding tissues when the patient moves unexpectedly during injection. 3) Painful puncture due to poor anesthetic technique or contact with innervated tissues. 4) Positive aspiration detected via suction, indicating intravascular injection carrying risk of overdose. 5) Overdose evidenced by exceeding appropriate blood levels, ranging from mild effects to impacts on muscle tone and cardiorespiratory system. 4. 1. N EEDLE FRACTURE
 This can be taken for unexpected movements of the
patient, pain or tearing of the periosteum.
Improper use of needles, for example using a short
needle for Spix technique, which being introduced, the
muscle contracts and break.
Needle manufacturing defects.
What to do in this case
Keep calm.
Inform the patient.
Indicate that you do not close the mouth
and muscle contracture can be moved in
and shut up because you lose the
parameter where is the needle.

5. 2. D AMAGE TO
SURROUNDING TISSUE
 Such accident happens when the patient moves
and punctures in one area do not want (lip).

6. 3. PAINFUL PUNCTURE
 It is due to poor anesthetic technique performed,
in which mild pain usually occurs because the
needle injured the muscle or when contact the
bevel of the needle with the periosteum is richly
innervated.

7. 4. POSITIVE A SPIRATION
 Is detected by the suction test. If there was
intravascular puncture and aspiration was
performed, it runs the risk of making an
intravascular injection.

8. 5. OVERDOSE
 The overdose was evident when blood levels exceed
the appropriate anesthetic for the individual. There
are two types of overdose
Mild to moderate overdose which can cause:
Vertigo, numbness and disorientation
Overdose of moderate to high, which is characterized
by affecting the muscle tone and cardiorespiratory
system.

10. Complications from these types of accidents can often
occur immediately or later. Among the most common
complications are:
Blood disorder.
Neurological disorder.
Soft tissue injuries.
Muscle disorders.
Infections.
