Dr Kerrie McDonald
Kerrie is the Head of the Neuro-oncology Laboratory at the Lowy Cancer
Research Centre, UNSW in Sydney. She supervises 5 PhD students, 1 Medical
Honours student and has two staff. She was awarded a prestigious Cancer
Institute NSW Fellowship at the beginning of last year. Kerrie is Chair of the
NSW Oncology Groups for Neuro-oncology, is on the scientific council
for COGNO (a clinical trials group) and is a chief investigator of AGOG
collaboration to investigate brain tumours. The major focus of Kerrie’s
research group is to discover biomarkers that could predict patient
response to treatment. In addition, the group is investigating why
brain tumour cells are highly invasive.
Bec Lucas
In 2013 Bec was awarded
Young Citizen of the year
and Local Woman of the
year for her extensive
community work in the area
of brain cancer Research.
Bec is passionate about
raising awareness and funds
for Brain Cancer Research
after her Father Tony, passed
away 3 years ago aged 50
from this terrible disease.
