Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this reference at the request of Francesco Franzese. In my capacity as the
Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Parthenope University and Professor of Hydraulic Structures, I
came to know Francesco Franzese very well since 2010.
Within the period of his studies, he has shown himself as a disciplined, reliable and conscientious student
with the comprehensive knowledge in different areas.
Studying at the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of Civil Engineering, Francesco demonstrated his deep
interest and learning skills in all subjects of the course.
I have had an opportunity to observe his participation and overall progress. I would rate the Francesco's
overall performance as excellent, because he has got only excellent marks and has achieved marked results
in different academic and student fields like.
Francesco was allowed by our research team to write his degree thesis in the field of Hydrology. The theme
of his work was to study the relationship between rainfall and the incidence of landslides, that is the most
important issue in landslide forecasting. He focus the attention on the analysis of mathematical models
capable of simulating triggering conditions. Prediction of rainfall-induced landslides was carried out using
hydrological models and his study also included these models’ applications in the framework of early
warning systems in Campania region, Italy.
Francesco Franzese showed immense working efficiency and competitive knowledge and skills in his chosen
field, I have found him to be a polite, methodical and responsible person, with a relevant adaptability, self-
motivation and a keen desire to learn. These set of skills lead me to believe that he has talent and drive to
achieve success in future.
