1. Vindhyachal Rangesof Central India
Vindhya ranges are located on the borders of Satpura Range & Chota
Nagpur Pleatue. The Vindhya ranges are also known as vindhyachal
ranges. In Mahabharata, it is also known as Vindhyapadaparvata. The
name was so formed because of the Vindhya once obstructed the path
of the sun. Vindhya ranges are the origin of several tributaries of Ganga-
Yamuna.
The ranges are covered with tropical dry deciduous forest. The forests
of the Mirzapur are marked at the beginning of the Vindhya Ranges.
Large rural populations are reliant on these forests for their fuelwood
and livelihood. They provide habitats to the most endangered species
like large mammal species, sloth bear, tiger, swamp deer, wild dog,
chousingha.
Due to the increasing urbanization, industrialization, and population
pressure, the forest is converting into agriculture which is subjected to
illegal. The forest is densely covered with large trees spread far apart,
shrubs, and grasses. As per the present study total of 1078 plants which
include 77 trees, 894 herbs, 107 shrubs. The soil of the region was
slightly acidic. The soil of the region has a ph value of 6.36 which is near
about neutral point (7.0).
The massive sandstone of the range, long an important building
material was used for the formation of a group of the temple at Gwalior
and Khajuraho. Bandhavgarh National Park is situated in Vindhya
Mountain Range has got a mixed variety of forests. The Vindhya
Tableland is a pleatue that lies to the north and central part of the
range. The city of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, and the Indore
lie on the tableland.

Khajuraho-
From vindhyachal ranges, Khajuraho is 258 kilometers away. Khajuraho
is a small town of Madhya Pradesh which is famous for its architectural
monuments. This is a UNESCO, World Heritage Site. The temples of
Khajuraho has a Vindhya range mountain at the backdrop. The temples
were built by the ruler of the Chandela Dynasty.

This group consist of Chaturbhuja and Dulah Dao Temples as the major
attractions of tourists. the temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and
Vishnu

dedicated to God Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Vishwanatha temple has a
three-headed idol of Lord Brahma.
Gwalior-
The Gwalior is a northern most city in the Indian State of Madhya
Pradesh. Gwalior has a special position in the Indian classical music,
dance, art, and literature. Gwalior is famous for its forts and temples.
The city is surrounded by the high rocky hills which are connected to the
Vindhya range.

3. The major attractions of Gawaliar-
GwaliorFort-
The fort stood on the isolated rock very magnificently. ‘The pearl in the
necklace of the Forts’ was described by the famous Mughal Emperor
Babur.
Sun Temple-
The temple is dedicated to the Hindu God ‘Sun’. the temple was
constructed by the famous architecture G.D Birla in 1988.
Orchha-
From Vindhya ranges, Orchha is 414 kilometers away. Orchha is a town
in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. The town was established by
Rudra Pratap Singh. Betwa range starts from the Vindhya Range and
empties in the Yamuna River.
