2. In the morning we decorate Christmas
tree and put presents under it.
3. We prepare dishes for Christmas
dinner. Traditionally there should
be twelve dishes.
4. These are: borsch with ravioli or
mushroom soup, carp and other
fish, cabbage with pea, pierogi
(dumplings) stuffed with cabbage
and mushrooms, herrings and
vegetable salad. We don’t eat meat
on Christmas Eve.
6. We always put one extra plate for an
unexpected guest, because on this day
nobody should be alone.
We wait until first star
appears in the sky to
start Christmas
dinner.
7. First we read a fragment of the
Bible and pray. Then we share
wafer and give wishes to one
another.
8. After Christmas dinner we sing carols
and open our presents.
