1. EUNIT (EU network of Israel Trainees)
1. Why?
Have you ever been to a conference in Jerusalem, met a fellow trainee of
another member state's embassy and decided to share your notes? Have you
already realised that both your embassy and another member state were doing
a note on the same topic? If so, then you probably realised the benefits of
sharing information with fellow interns and if not, you probably wish you had!
2. What?
In the context of the Lisbon treaty and of the creation of the European External
Action Service, the EU is proposing to launch an EU intern network in Tel
Aviv for member states' interns to exchange – both formally and informally –
information about their work, be they invitations to conferences, publicly
available reports or useful contacts. We understand that some topics might be
considered confidential and we insist on interns having the agreement of their
supervisor before sharing any information. Moreover, we hope, trough this
scheme, to help interns to integrate in Israel, especially when some of them
stay for only a couple of months. Our added value – compared to the Young
Diplomats Forum for example – is that this programme would be tailored for
interns who might not be attending other events and that it would aim at
creating a European – if not coherence – at least esprit de corps.
3. How?
In order to do so, we will send weekly emails from the following address
(delegation-israel-eunit@eeas.europa.eu) highlighting:
1. Conferences; with an invitation to inform the network (ie to reply to
all) if you intend to participate and are allowed and willing to share
your notes;
2. Request for information on specific topics with the name and the
contact details of the person requiring them;
3. Proposal to share information on specific topics with the name and
the contact details of the person offering them. Before sharing
information, interns are required to ask for the approval of their
supervisor;
4. Invitations for the (monthly) professional meeting of EU interns
network. The main aim of these meetings is to do a "tour de table"
2. where everyone can say what they are working on, and to make new
contacts
5. Social and cultural events: there will be a link to the EU delegation
facebook page where all the European events are registered under the
"Cultural Calendar tab":

6. Language exchanges. Interns can inform the network of their "offer
and demand" of language exchange. We would create a table
representing those, so interns can find the language match they are
looking for.
7. AOB: the weekly email will provide a platform for interns to
advertise objects they want to sell or accommodation they can provide,
for example.
To be aware of conferences coming up, the functional mailbox will be
registered with ACRI, KAS, JCPA.
It should be the responsibility of each trainee's advisor in the member state's
embassies to give EU intern network's email address.
It would be even easier if each member state's embassy created a functional
mailbox for interns and let us know about it.
