We catch up with after their charity work and tour with Ben Howard . The Chrises are currently in
the middle of making their latest album, frontman PJ Mills has vowed to give Iris readers an insight
into the band and there work with Sufers against sewage.
The Chrises have come very far in the music industry in the last 2 years. From being a local band that
plays at pubs to be playing at the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury this summer. Their most recent
album Dying Days has been globally successful, making it into the top 10 in Americas music charts!
PJ Mills has also written plays for the Battersea Arts Centre and a young offenders and youth group
in Brighton. The band have done a lot of charity work over the recent years and aim to put their
success to good use. Working with charities such as Oxfam and NSPCC.
There upcoming album has been named closed doors in memory of PippasKnowls father that passed
away recently, the album is about rebirth containing songs featuring other artists such as Ed Sheeran
and Ben Howard and including the singles Broken waves and Sky high.
The Chrises have created a lot of publicity for the pressure group suffers against sewage, Raising
awareness in the drop of water quality around the coast and the pollution of the sea. This charity
have a very special connection with The Chrises. Suffers against sewage was established in 1990 by
a group of passionate, local surfers and beach lovers in the picturesque north coast villages of St
Agnes and Porthtowan, two of these passionatesurfers happened to guitarist PippaKnowls parents
meaning the band grew up with it as a part of their lives. PJ Mills says ‘The seas mean a lot to us and
so does this charity, it’s amazing we have got more people aware.’
The Chrises have been selling Surfers against sewage merchandise across the UK and raising
awareness about the cause, they have also been working with other bands such as MGMT and
artist Ben Howard to set up a three day festival on Cornwall’s beaches summer 2014, all profit will
go to protecting and cleaning the sea. WATCH THIS SPACE!
