1. Magazine Comparison Essay
For my front cover analysis I have chosen two quite different magazines with very similar lyrics. The
first magazine I chose was a classic rock and alternative music magazine, Uncut. This magazine
supplies the reader with articles on a wide range of different music. For example, double page
spreads from such artists as The Beatles and Bob Marley, two very different artists. The front cover is
a famous picture of rock legends Led Zeppelin; it’s bright and attractive, appealing to the eye. The
first thing we see in the on the front cover is the centred sub heading that appears in the middle of
the cover, this is telling us about the image: who it is, what it’s about etc. The rest of the text is
telling us what’s in the magazine, using several other subtitles to interest the readers into the
contents of the magazine. This leaves the least known artists in the blind spots (bottom left corner,
where the eye is least attracted to)
