Our film must have an abstract but interesting narrative and make good use of sound, mise-en-scene, and color to portray the intended atmosphere and help the audience understand the storyline. We will need to decide whether to include dialogue or not based on our research of other successful short films. It is also important to use professional, high quality actors to make the film realistic and appealing to viewers.

2. The Film... Our film must be abstract and therefore possess an interesting and appealing narrative. Our use of sound in our short film is important, as we must ensure that we are using the right sound types for our genre, and that they suit the atmosphere that we are trying to portray. Make good use of Mise-En-Scene, in order to help the audience understand our storyline/plot. Dialogue or no Dialogue? After researching many short films, it is clear that they are created both with, or without dialogue. For example, Connected and The Black Hole have no dialogue, yet Hirstute bases its narrative around the dialogue between its characters. Use a variety of Colours to express feelings. Having researched past students work, they extensively used colours to express what the characters were feeling. We must use the best possible actors in our short film. It is important that the film is realistic and professional, so to appeal to the viewer.

3. The Poster… We must keep our poster professional and attractive. We shouldn’t overcrowd the poster with text, as it needs to be visually attractive. Stick to 3 fonts across the poster (and all 3 media productions – poster, review & film) there should be a font for the title, headings and body text - this creates a necessary house style. Include suitable and informative annotations/captions around images on the poster.

4. The Review… The review must stick to the typical conventions of a magazine. Having looked at many reviews, we can see that many conventions have became apparent. At the beginning of an article, the first letter must always be set larger than the letters which come to follow. Page number must be included as the review is situated within a magazine etc. All of these conventions must be met. All of the text in the review must be correctly aligned to keep the review looking professional. The review must not turn into a summary, having read the ‘Connected’ review we must not make the same mistake by starting to summarize the film.
