narrative structure
Type of documentary: One born every minute is a fly on the wall
documentary.
Narrative structure: It is Linear as it Follows in chronological order. It is
Multi Strand as there is More than one narrative thread. It is Closed
as there are no loose ends and all questions are answered.
Themes: It shows how different women deal with birth and how every
birth is diffrent
3. Camera Work
They use a 2 shot mid shot
when doing the interview.
They use a high angle shot of
when the mother first holds
her child.
They use a tracking shot at the start of the
documentary of the hospital corridor.
4. Mise-en-scene
• They use bright lighting to show that something good is going to
happen.
• It shows women in nurses outfits and doctors wearing doctors
clothing showing there importance.
5. Editing
• They use slow motion of the clock ticking as it is a slow experience
connoting how people are just waiting for there baby to be born.
• They mainly use cuts throughout the programme.
6. Sound
• There is a male voice over who speaks standard English.
• At the beginning of the episode they use the sound of babies crying
the clock ticking the sound of cups of teas pouring and women
screaming showing a day to day in the Childs ward in the hospital.
• They use soft slow music throughout the programme.
