School StaffWilliam Allen White Elementary This school has grade levels Kindergarten through fourth grade. There are two teachers per grade level.  Every classroom teacher has at least a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. There is generally not very much turnover in this school.  There is one principal at the school, who has been there for two years.  USD253.ORG
Emporia facts and figures Population: about 33,000 There has been a decline in population since Tyson, the local meat plant, drastically reduced its work force.  It is also home to author William Allen White. www.emporia-kansas.gov
Emporia facts and figures continued Emporia is located in the Flint Hills of Kansas, which is one of the prettiest areas in Kansas.  Emporia, is also home to Emporia State University, a state university that houses about 6,000 student’s. There is also a technical college, Flint Hills Technical College. It is about 50 miles from our state capital, Topeka and about 100 miles from Wichita.  www.emporia-kansas.gov
Recreational Programs Emporia has many parks and recreational programs for children.  Camp Alexander just outside of town, that hosts children all summer.  There is Emporia SummerScapeprogram.  There are several dance studios and recreational sports leagues. The Emporia Art Council also provides children’s services. Emporia Public Library also offers children's programming throughout the year.  There is also a community pool that is open for the summer months, where there is a local swim team.

Emporia… I have lived in Emporia since 2003, and I can tell there is a lot of diversity, and it is a caring community that really sticks together.  The college is the backbone of the city, I think without the college this town would be a lot less successful.
