Coyne research press release 69% of irish adults rate the irish judiciary poorly on sentencing
1. PRESS RELEASE FROM COYNE RESEARCH
Dublin, Ireland 18th October 2012.
A Coyne Research survey (August 2012) of the Irish population
finds that over two thirds (69%) of all Irish adults rated the Irish
Judiciary as poor when it comes to sentencing criminals.
Every month Coyne Research conducts an omnibus survey which
interviews 1,000 Irish adults aged 16+ using an online survey. The
sample is quota controlled to ensure that it is representative of the Irish
population. The omnibus survey has a margin of error of +/-3.2%.
In August 2012, we placed a number of attitude questions on our
omnibus to better understand the current views of Irish consumers. One
of these questions examined Irish adults’ attitudes to sentencing by the
Irish Judiciary.
2 in 3 (69%) of all Irish adults rated the Irish Judiciary as poor when it
comes to sentencing criminals. Most demographic segments record a
similar rating. However, a much more negative rating is evident
