4. Matthew 24 36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the
angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father... 42Therefore
keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will
come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known
at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept
watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you
also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour
when you do not expect him.
5. Matthew 24 45"Who then is the faithful and
wise servant, whom the master has put in
charge of the servants in his household to give
them their food at the proper time? 46It will be
good for that servant whose master finds

6. “The new heaven and new earth will come in its fullness
only with an apocalyptic return of Jesus. He will
establish shalom at His coming. On that great day, He
will put an end to the destructive violence that now
plagues the earth. The second coming of Christ will
signal the complete deliverance of creation from its
present bondage to corruption.” (Campolo, p.96)
“What must be made clear is that each of us has a
responsibility to do something about our polluted and
trashed creation right now. In anticipation of His
coming, we must go to work today and participate with
Him in caring for all parts of His creation, making our
contribution to the work which He will complete on the
day of His coming.” (ibid.)
Phil 1:6 “And I am sure of this: that He who began a good work
in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
7. By sovereign appointment we are earthkeepers
and caretakers: loving our neighbor, tending the
creation, and meeting our needs. God uses our
skills in the unfolding and well-being of his world.
