A leader is able to guide others to achieve goals by using motivation and direction. Great leadership can provide change and a way to achieve positive outcomes A great leader can gather people, motivate them to do their best and produce positive outcomes for the organization (Manning & Curtis, 2019). Not all leaders have great leadership skills. A person may be great in one situation but not in another. A leader has to have integrity and care about others. Often leaders can be appointed or selected due to a long track record and this does not always produce great leadership (Prinsloo & De Klerk, 2020). I find nursing supervisors are often put into supervisory positions due to the fact they have worked there for a long period of time, not necessarily because they will be good leaders. The role of the leader is very important for an organization. It will determine how people are motivated to achieve profitable outcomes. If a leader is self-absorbed, has poor integrity, shows lack of being able to be flexible, or poor communication, it can be detrimental to the organization (Tracy, 2017). To be effective, I believe a leader has to have a little of each type of leadership. The leader must have qualities of a traditional and individualistic leader, but also incorporate participative leadership styles. The leader must motivate but also direct employees, empower employees but make final decisions, be a leader but empower the people. Organizational leadership is a method of management which involves leaders taking active roles in setting up strategic goals for the company. The leaders, according to Ruben and Gigliotti (2017), have to motivate their employees to ensure that they work as a team towards achieving the business goals. Organizational leadership is essential in meeting the challenges and goals presented by both the business and the employees. Managers are always promoted to top leadership roles basing on their abilities to manage business challenges and achieve future goals (Ruben & Gigliotti, 2017). Understanding both the strengths and weaknesses of a workforce is an essential part of organizational leadership. Interpersonal leadership involves the ability of managers or leaders to understand their workers. It requires a deep understanding of the employees, what motivates them, and how they interrelate with each other at the workplace. This type of leadership revolves around self-expression, which determines whether one's leadership capabilities. The authors define statesmanship as the practice of moral leadership within an organization or institution. According to Ruben and Gigliotti, Great politicians such as Churchill and Lincoln have always been regarded as a true statement due to their ability to lead their countries during difficult times. From previous studies, it is still not clear as to whether a state is a right habitat for statesmanship. Stöckl and Smajdor (2017) put it that diplomacy involves politicians who have practised high level of quality leadership. A leader is someone who has a responsibility of guiding the rest of those below him/her to reach a specific outcome, objective or destination. In order to achieve this, the leader should be inspiring and motivating to others. There have been leaders since time in memorial and even in religious books. There are leaders in different fields such as political, religious or even organizational leaders. Regardless of the field that such leaders lead, they should have desirable qualities and this makes them good leaders.
When a leader possesses some bad elements such as dictatorship, no matter their success, they will not be regarded as good and admirable leaders. A leader should not be seen as to presiding from the top and giving directives while just observing the progress. A leader should try as much as possible to take part in activities with those whom he/she leads. When a leader is representative of others, he should represent the general view of those he represents. A leader operates at different levels with some at lower levels and others in higher levels. The most important thing is that whichever the level they are, they should be able to effectively guide others to the expected goals.
Given that leaders operate at different levels and in different aspects of life, different leaders will therefore have different functions. For instance, as a family leader, a parent has the responsibility of guiding their children into a better future. A parent should ensure that children are able to receive the best care and protect them from external negative influences. For religious leaders, they have the responsibility of guiding their followers. They act as role models to the believers and should therefore have adorable qualities that can be adopted by the followers.
Religious leaders are tasked in ensuring that there is morality in the society according to the principles set by the religion. Political leaders on the other hand are elected or chosen to represent the interests of the electorates. They are expected to advocate for the demands of those they represent. In the top-level political leadership, as a representative of the country, a leader is supposed to represent fellow countrymen in global arena. While speaking, a leader of a country is seen to be representing the country of a whole. People will not see the leader’s utterances as personal but rather the opinion held by the general public.
A leader in general is supposed to perform a number of actions. The first duty that a leader is supposed to do is setting the destination or goals to be met. It is the responsibility of any leader to come up with goals which those under them will work to attain (Blanchard, 2007). Abstract
Different leaders in an organization rely on different methods to lead others. Several leadership styles exist which depends on an individual leader, the team being led and the conditions that the organization faces. In this leadership final paper, an analysis of leadership style that is suitable within the military environment is analyzed. Military leadership is a process in which the leaders influence the troops to achieve the mission, purpose, and motivation of the unit. In the military, the leadership is not authoritarian as it is depicted in the movies. The military entails training that creates responsibility and discipline. The two qualities are critical in transactional, transformational and servant leadership styles.
Introduction
General John J. Pershing once said, “A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops.” As a leader, personal accountability is the standard. A quality many never seemed to care about. Those that have been led define a leader’s true competency. If they fail, it is because the leader has failed them. In the military the principle of crucible in combat has been effective in developing exceptional leaders. In the paper the leadership styles adopted under the military context are discussed. The element of motivation is also looked at in relation to the military environment.
Transactional, Transformational and Servant Leadership Styles.
In the military, competency is usually in the eye of the beholder; commonly referred to as leadership. Their assessment comes in the form of an appraisals, non-commission officer evaluation reports or officer evaluations that amasses everything accomplished in one year. Generally, throughout that year feedback is giving. All too often that is not the case. More times than not, individuals are left to write their own evaluation. There is no more daunting a task than having to rate your ability as a leader. The last thing an individual want to do is place his or herself so high that others despise them, yet not under sell their own ability to lead others.
This, coupled with organization goals, values and mission, has the potential for several pitfalls. A true leader sees and seizes this as an opportunity. A chance too not only sharpen and hone their own leadership style, but perhaps try their hand at various others. An organization, in its simplest definition, is a group of people with a particular purpose. The military is nothing more than a group of people with the simple purpose of neutralizing the enemy. Researchers and practitioners have studied organizational leadership for more than a cen-
tury. Although research approaches differ, the same basic question guides all leadership
research: What constitutes leadership and how does it emerge? To find answers, researchers
and practitioners break the topic into three main lines of inquiry:
• What is the difference between management and leadership? Are all good leaders
also good managers? Why or why not?
• How does leadership emergence differ from assigned leadership? What are the
advantages and disadvantages of each?
• Are leaders born or made? What specific characteristics of leaders are innate?
What specific abilities are learned?
The following sections address each of these questions in turn.

Think about each of the questions above and try to answer them using examples and evidence
from your own personal, social, and/or professional experience.
Management Versus Leadership
John Kotter, a Harvard University professor, explained the difference between managers and
leaders by determining where they focus their time and energy. He argues that managers act
to reduce organizational complexity by creating plans, setting goals, monitoring work, and
allocating resources. Leaders, on the other hand, focus on coping with change by establish-
ing a vision of the future, aligning others to this vision, and inspiring them to achieve great
things (Kotter International, 2014). Similarly, an interesting series of studies in the 1980s dif-
ferentiated between successful and effective managers: Successful managers are those who
get promoted faster. Effective managers are those with high-performing units and satisfied
employees. Although they share similar behaviors, successful managers were found to spend
significantly more time networking, socializing, politicking, and interacting with outsiders
than performing traditional management functions such as planning and decision making
or undertaking HR activities such as developing and motivating their followers. In contrast,
effective managers spent most of their time on communication and HR management activi-

A leader is someone who has a responsibility of guiding the rest of those below him/her to reach a specific outcome, objective or destination. In order to achieve this, the leader should be inspiring and motivating to others. There have been leaders since time in memorial and even in religious books. There are leaders in different fields such as political, religious or even organizational leaders. Regardless of the field that such leaders lead, they should have desirable qualities and this makes them good leaders.
When a leader possesses some bad elements such as dictatorship, no matter their success, they will not be regarded as good and admirable leaders. A leader should not be seen as to presiding from the top and giving directives while just observing the progress. A leader should try as much as possible to take part in activities with those whom he/she leads. When a leader is representative of others, he should represent the general view of those he represents. A leader operates at different levels with some at lower levels and others in higher levels. The most important thing is that whichever the level they are, they should be able to effectively guide others to the expected goals.
Given that leaders operate at different levels and in different aspects of life, different leaders will therefore have different functions. For instance, as a family leader, a parent has the responsibility of guiding their children into a better future. A parent should ensure that children are able to receive the best care and protect them from external negative influences. For religious leaders, they have the responsibility of guiding their followers. They act as role models to the believers and should therefore have adorable qualities that can be adopted by the followers.
Religious leaders are tasked in ensuring that there is morality in the society according to the principles set by the religion. Political leaders on the other hand are elected or chosen to represent the interests of the electorates. They are expected to advocate for the demands of those they represent. In the top-level political leadership, as a representative of the country, a leader is supposed to represent fellow countrymen in global arena. While speaking, a leader of a country is seen to be representing the country of a whole. People will not see the leader’s utterances as personal but rather the opinion held by the general public.
A leader in general is supposed to perform a number of actions. The first duty that a leader is supposed to do is setting the destination or goals to be met. It is the responsibility of any leader to come up with goals which those under them will work to attain (Blanchard, 2007). Abstract
Different leaders in an organization rely on different methods to lead others. Several leadership styles exist which depends on an individual leader, the team being led and the conditions that the organization faces. In this leadership final paper, an analysis of leadership style that is suitable within the military environment is analyzed. Military leadership is a process in which the leaders influence the troops to achieve the mission, purpose, and motivation of the unit. In the military, the leadership is not authoritarian as it is depicted in the movies. The military entails training that creates responsibility and discipline. The two qualities are critical in transactional, transformational and servant leadership styles.
Introduction
General John J. Pershing once said, “A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops.” As a leader, personal accountability is the standard. A quality many never seemed to care about. Those that have been led define a leader’s true competency. If they fail, it is because the leader has failed them. In the military the principle of crucible in combat has been effective in developing exceptional leaders. In the paper the leadership styles adopted under the military context are discussed. The element of motivation is also looked at in relation to the military environment.
Transactional, Transformational and Servant Leadership Styles.
In the military, competency is usually in the eye of the beholder; commonly referred to as leadership. Their assessment comes in the form of an appraisals, non-commission officer evaluation reports or officer evaluations that amasses everything accomplished in one year. Generally, throughout that year feedback is giving. All too often that is not the case. More times than not, individuals are left to write their own evaluation. There is no more daunting a task than having to rate your ability as a leader. The last thing an individual want to do is place his or herself so high that others despise them, yet not under sell their own ability to lead others.
This, coupled with organization goals, values and mission, has the potential for several pitfalls. A true leader sees and seizes this as an opportunity. A chance too not only sharpen and hone their own leadership style, but perhaps try their hand at various others. An organization, in its simplest definition, is a group of people with a particular purpose. The military is nothing more than a group of people with the simple purpose of neutralizing the enemy. A task that the U.S. government exiles at. This task cannot be carried out to its fullest without someone at the helm leading.

Researchers and practitioners have studied organizational leadership for more than a cen-
tury. Although research approaches differ, the same basic question guides all leadership
research: What constitutes leadership and how does it emerge? To find answers, researchers
and practitioners break the topic into three main lines of inquiry:
• What is the difference between management and leadership? Are all good leaders
also good managers? Why or why not?
• How does leadership emergence differ from assigned leadership? What are the
advantages and disadvantages of each?
• Are leaders born or made? What specific characteristics of leaders are innate?
What specific abilities are learned?
The following sections address each of these questions in turn.

Think about each of the questions above and try to answer them using examples and evidence
from your own personal, social, and/or professional experience.
Management Versus Leadership
John Kotter, a Harvard University professor, explained the difference between managers and
leaders by determining where they focus their time and energy. He argues that managers act
to reduce organizational complexity by creating plans, setting goals, monitoring work, and
allocating resources. Leaders, on the other hand, focus on coping with change by establish-
ing a vision of the future, aligning others to this vision, and inspiring them to achieve great
things (Kotter International, 2014). Similarly, an interesting series of studies in the 1980s dif-
ferentiated between successful and effective managers: Successful managers are those who
get promoted faster. Effective managers are those with high-performing units and satisfied
employees. Although they share similar behaviors, successful managers were found to spend
significantly more time networking, socializing, politicking, and interacting with outsiders
than performing traditional management functions such as planning and decision making
or undertaking HR activities such as developing and motivating their followers. In contrast,
effective managers spent most of their time on communication and HR management activi-

Deontology
The ethical position to do what is right out of duty or obligation. It is often called rule-based ethics.
Deontology has been described as "absolutist," "universal," and "impersonal" (Kant, 1785/1959). It prioritizes absolute obligations over consequences. In this moral framework, ethical decision making is the rational act of applying universal principles to all situations irrespective of specific relations, contexts, or consequences. This reflects Immanuel Kant's conviction that ethical decisions cannot vary or be influenced by special circumstances or relationships. Rather, a decision is "moral" only if a rational person believes the act resulting from the decision should be universally followed in all situations. For Kant, respect for the worth of all persons was one such universal principle. A course of action that results in a person being used simply as a means for others' gains would ethically unacceptable.
With respect to deception in research, from a deontological perspective, since we would not believe it moral to intentionally deceive individuals in some other context, neither potential benefits to society nor the effectiveness of participant debriefing for a particular deception study can morally justify intentionally deceiving persons about the purpose or nature of a research study. Further, deception in research would not be ethically permissible since intentionally disguising the nature of the study for the goals of research violates the moral obligation to respect each participant's intrinsic worth by undermining individuals' right to make rational and autonomous decisions regarding participation (Fisher & Fyrberg, 1994).
Utilitarianism
The ethical position depends on the consequences of the action with the goal being producing the most good.
Utilitarian theory prioritizes the consequences (or utility) of an act over the application of universal principles (Mill, 1861/1957). From this perspective, an ethical decision is situation specific and must be governed by a risk-benefit calculus that determines which act will produce the greatest possible balance of good over bad consequences. An "act utilitarian" makes an ethical decision by evaluating the consequences of an act for a given situation. A "rule utilitarian" makes an ethical decision by evaluating whether following a general rule in all similar situation would create the greater good. Like deontology, utilitarianism is impersonal: It does not take into account interpersonal and relational features of ethical responsibility. From this perspective, psychologists' obligations to those with whom they work can be superseded by an action that would produce a greater good for others (Fisher, 1999).

Assigned Case Study Problem:
You will create a case study for a microbial infection selected from the current pathogen list. Your case
study will be assembled using a detailed rubric (see below). Upon completion, you will submit your
case study to the Blackboard gradebook in Unit 5 and to SafeAssign.
How to create a case study
The case studies are meant to be an enjoyable, interesting, and informative assignment. This is your
chance to show that you understand the key teaching points about a microbe and to communicate
these points in a written format.
What information belongs in my case study?
Have at least 3-4 key referenced points in each of the five areas shown in the Case Study Information
Chart (see below). The left-hand heading in the chart suggests the type of information requested for the
pathogen. Outlines can be in whatever form you prefer (bullets/charts/outlines/diagrams or a mix). Be
sure to include two discussion questions (and provide complete answers) that you can incorporate
into your case study (place them at the end of your write-up). These questions should help connect your
case to other material in the course. For example, what other microbes have an A-B toxin? What other
viruses are transmitted by fecal-oral spread?
How much information should I provide for my case study?
For the Case Study, you are asked to provide at least the information requested in the chart below. The
boxed questions are suggestions for the minimum amount of information within each category. The
more detailed the information, the better the study. You may consult your textbook, CDC, WHO, Access
Medicine, Google Scholar, NCBI, WebMD, etc. to find the information. For example, if you perform a
Google search using the name of the pathogen and the word ‘vaccine’, you will find information on
current vaccines (if any), those in clinical trials, vaccines used only in animals, etc.

In 2007 San Francisco began its Healthy San Francisco Plan designed to provide health care for all San Francisco citizens. In 2007, it was estimated that San Francisco had 82,000 uninsured citizens. This is a less expensive option than purchasing software and licenses, and it allows access to the outside vendors. It is also cheaper than hosted software. Based on the cloud location, the setup time is faster, which is what myIoT needs for a two-month turnaround.

Application integration would pose a challenge. Since there is a short time-frame, ensuring all partners are “up and running” could be their biggest issue. 1) “RLI Home Builds a Castle on Communication”
Since the outset the owner Ralph Lorean has prided himself on focusing the culture of the company on excellent customer service. Managers know that a culture like this would only work if the company’s employees enjoyed their work and the company. He wanted to build a company where every employee felt they owned the castle. Ralph believed that communication was essential to making an employee feel a part of the group, so he often said that he never wanted employees to “read about their company in the media and learn something new.”
Because RLI is international in scope it is possible that on any given day or time two thirds of its 2,000 employees are outside an office. To conquer the communication this problem imposes Ralph is surveying his managers to see if they think a new, but very expensive, “dashboard” intranet system would be worth the expenditure. The system would ensure optimal communication strategies allowing every employee remote access from wherever they are. Regardless, of location every employee can share information on the dashboard from their cell phone. However, it does not offer a “SKYPE” feature. Management has sent a short questionnaire to you asking the following questions:
A) How would the new tool influence job performance positively in RLI?
B) Could dependence on a program which does not permit access to verbal or face to face communications hinder job performance in a global setting? If so why?
C) If the dashboard was only presented in English would this be a factor in its intracompany success?
D) One of the biggest reasons suggested for purchasing the system is that it allows information to flow both from top down to bottom up. Do you see this as possible if the company is not structured in a similar way? If so why, if not why not?

- 1. 1/2-1 page response to this discussion...include 1 scholarly reference Leadership can be defined as the act of influencing others. A leader is able to guide others to achieve goals by using motivation and direction. Great leadership can provide change and a way to achieve positive outcomes A great leader can gather people, motivate them to do their best and produce positive outcomes for the organization (Manning & Curtis, 2019). Not all leaders have great leadership skills. A person may be great in one situation but not in another. A leader has to have integrity and care about others. Often leaders can be appointed or selected due to a long track record and this does not always produce great leadership (Prinsloo & De Klerk, 2020). I find nursing supervisors are often put into supervisory positions due to the fact they have worked there for a long period of time, not necessarily because they will be good leaders. The role of the leader is very important for an organization. It will determine how people are motivated to achieve profitable outcomes. If a leader is self-absorbed, has poor integrity, shows lack of being able to be flexible, or poor communication, it can be detrimental to the organization (Tracy, 2017). To be effective, I believe a leader has to have a little of each type of leadership. The leader must have qualities of a traditional and individualistic leader, but also incorporate participative leadership styles. The leader must motivate but also direct employees, empower employees but make final decisions, be a leader but empower the people. The control should be shared among the leader and the employees (Manning & Curtis, 2019). References
