3. The Prime Minister has launched the TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative to leverage the
support of over 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats to raise awareness about TB, eliminate the
stigma attached to the disease and help monitor and improve uptake of services.
4. RATIONALE

7. CERTIFICATION PROCESS
• Under the process, there will be five KPIs with their corressponding targets to assess the progress towards achieving
TB Mukt status.
• These KPIs, with their corressponding targets, will be the same for submission and verification of claims, which
means the same KPIs will be verified by the District TB Team on the basis of which claims will be submitted by
Gram Panchayats.
• All the five targets need to be achieved for submission and verification of claims.
• For claim submission and verification, data will be considered for the current year, which means declaring panchayat
TB Mukt in 2024, data will be evaluated for the year 2023.
• The information/ data on the five KPIs will be captured by Ni-Kshay portal (Central TB Divsion, MoHFW) and shall
flow to e-gramswaraj portal (MoPR) after integration of the two portals.

11. CERTIFICATE & AWARD
1. Certificates for ‘TB Mukt Panchayat’, with one year validity, will be issued to
qualified Gram Panchayats every year by District Magistrate/District
Collector/Deputy Commissioner on World TB Day (24th March).
2. Along with the Certificate, a small statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be awarded to
‘TB Mukt Panchayat’ to commemorate his vision towards ‘healthy villages’. The
statue is to be of bronze colour for achieving ‘TB Mukt’ status for first year, silver &
gold colour for continuously maintaining the status for two years and three years
respectively.
3. The TB Mukt award is to be displayed in respective Gram Panchayat
Sadan/Bhawan.
12. Monitoring of ‘TB Mukt Panchayat’ initiative
1. State and district need to complete the cascade training of all the members of all Gram
Panchayats & update panchayat-wise status in the capacity building tracker which will be
shared by CTD to all the States.
2. The cascade training should be completed by 31st October 2023.
3. State and district-wise reports of ‘TB Mukt Panchayats’ will be generated by states and
shared with MoPR and CTD by the 15th of March every Year.
4. A quarterly joint monitoring of implementation of ‘TB Mukt Panchayat’ initiative will be done
by MoPR and CTD.

14. Update on Activities so far…..
Communication sent by MoPR and CTD, MoHFW for joint
execution of TB Mukt Panchayat initiative
Developed Training module for GP members, and Handbook on
TB Mukt Panchayat initiative. States were requested to translate
into local languages for further dissemination
Joint Orientation on the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative were held
in batches from 28th March’23 till 15th April’23. Attended by
STOs, SPROs, DTOs, DPROs and various stakeholders
Mapping of health facilities to villages/panchayats (LGD) is being

15. TAKE HOME MESSAGES
• Community awareness and mobilization to reduce TB stigma by involving TB Champions and CHOs.
• Decentralize the TB care services up to AB-HWCs level and ensure molecular diagnostics of TB patients to put
on the right regimen and its adherence.
• Adequate Nutritional support to all TB patients – NPY coverage and encourage volunteers to become Ni-kshay
